The Meadows Music Theatre is a very fun place to see a concert. Every seat in the house is pretty good and in the Summer they have a very nice lawn area that is sloped in the back with views into the theatre. Not to worry- they close this off during the Winter so you won't freeze. The lawn is very cool with the opportunity to picnic and watch the show. They get pretty good acts too- from Bob Dylan, to Pearl Jam. Very Cool!

Mohegan Sun is one of the best casinos on the east coast. This very large facility is like a mini-vacation destination in itself. It has many different restaurant and dining options from the traditional buffet, to the krispy kreme. They also have several nice highly rated chichi sit down restaurants. There is a smoke free game area that is nice for those of us with allergies. The slots are so much fun and the shopping and accomodations are top notch as well. It's difficult to get a room at the hotel on weekends, but definitely try your luck if you can :)

The Michael Jordan Sport Cafe and steakhouse is located convieniently within the Mohegan Sun Casino. It is often busy- especially during lunch and dinner hours. The service here is excellent and they serve top notch filet cuts. They are a little pricey though- think $40+ for an a la carte steak. Still worth it for occassions.

Yes, Yankee Stadium has it's downfalls- the nosebleed seats are farther from the field than the goodyear blimp and there is no beer allowed in the bleachers. But they also always have cheap enough seats so you can bring your whole family to see their favorite players. Pretty good hot dogs here too! No cracker jacks though which is some kind of sacriledge.

The Clarkson Inn is one of the best locations in Potsdam to stay during a business or social trip. Unfortunately, this hotel books up years in advance of any graduation or alumni weekend for Clarkson- they never seem to have anything available for when you will need it. This inn is nicely situated on the Racquette River near the center of town- convienient to downtown and Clarkson and Potsdam State Universities.

The Sagamore may be removed from any urban setting, but it is a world class resort with all modern amenities. They have a four star restaurant on the premises that serves sophisticated fare. They also have a full service salon for those that need to be pampered. The view from the main hotel of the lake is wonderful. They also have many bungalows to house additional guests- which are also nice. This is a nice weekend getaway location.

The Oakdale Theatre is a nice establishment outside of Wallingford- about 30 minutes or so away Hartford and New Haven. They get pretty good shows for reasonable prices. Recent touring artists to make this one of their stops have included the Beach Boys and Elvis Costello. My only complaint about this theatre is the price of the snacks and drinks once you are inside the complex- they are quite outrageous.

Dr Filchak is one of the few eye doctors in Southbury and he is top notch. He does a good amount of business in this town, but all his customers are made to feel like they are important. My family has used this optometrist for years and have been very satisfied with the service here. They accept many insurance carriers and also have a wide selection of frames and contact lens.

The Southbury Vet Hospital is one of the only in town that could take care of all of your cat, dog and small animal needs. They have complete surgical capability and seperate boarding facilities for both cats and dogs. The doctor here can be a little curt and snobby, but the other staff is always nice and courteous. My cat has been cared for by these people for the past 18 years- and she's still kicking. Pricing is fair.
