Located convieniently towards the center of town with views of the panaramic gulf coast, the Hampton Inn aims to please. They have a very nice complimentary full breakfast served every morning. I stayed there on a business trip and the staff here made sure to take care of all packages I had sent in and out for my job. The hotel's rooms are good- typical Hampton Inn quality with Wi-fi available. They also have two very nice swimming pools and a hot tub with views of the Gulf of Mexico. All in all a good place to stay that isn't too expensive when you're in Key West.

The Blond Giraffe Key Lime Pie Factory has the most excellent Key Lime Pie in all of Key West- available by the slice or by the pie. The house specialty is prepared freshly each and every day and can be yours for about $18 for the whole thing. THey also have a nice selection of gourmet coffee beverages- making this the ideal place for an after dinner treat or drink. They also have key lime gifts like chocolate dipped key lime sticks and key lime ice cream. Very good!

Michael's Restaurant and Sports Cafe is a great place to go for casual pub grub and bar scene. This is one of the few sports bars in Fishkill. Even though it's a little old school with wood panel interior and yellow-wash lighting, this bar has a very good happy hour scene. They have tons of things to entertain from a jukebox, to darts, to pool. They even have Golden Tee. Populated with the IBM and corporate crowd, it's still a pretty laid back place to hang out.

Charlie Brown's Steakhouse is an ok restaurant for Fishkill. They serve great casual meals, steak, burgers and salads. The food here is ok, most of the dishes are pretty standard and taste a bit uninspired. The service here is very nice. This is also a good place to go for happy hours- on thursday nights they have $1 drafts and many area IBM employees convene here. In the Spring and Summer they have a good outdoor dining area.

When I lived in Fishkill, I spent considerable time looking for a good hair stylist at reasonable cost. I asked a woman who's hair I really loved to recommend her stylist- and she sent me to Dazzles. The first time I went I loved what she did to my hair. The second time and there-after it was like a butcher shop. The stylist stopped listening to me, so I tried another hair stylist in the salon. The second one not only did a crappy job but had an attitude problem to boot. The prices here were about $50/cut, but you might as well go to a mall cutter for this quality. The stylists are unskilled and uninspired. They don't listen and seem to have their own agendas at all times. If it wasn't FIshkil and if there were other salons to choose from this place would have been put out of business.

I always wanted to try the Texas Taco in Patterson. Driving by, I was drawn in by the ecclectic look and the brightly colored painted bus in the driveway. Once inside however i was greatly disappointed. I guess I thought it would be a Tex, Mex restaurant when in fact they only serve tacos. The prices were cheap enough, but the staff was a little frightening- dressed in ecclectic gypsy garb and a little bit beyond what I was expecting. A bit different than expected.

When Two Step's first opened about 10 years ago, it was one of the best hidden gems of a dining establishment. Located down an ally in a renovated fire house in the center of Downtown Danbury, Two Steps is hard to find, but such mystery seems to have worked against it in time. When it first opened, it was always very busy and the aptmosphere was very lively. However in time, it has become depressingly quiet even on busy nights. It's not as boisterous as it once was. The food here is tex-mex, priced reasonably and pretty good overall. The service is friendly and they can accomodate large parties.

Rosy Tomorrows has been around for years- years before the TGI Friday's and Applebees and Ruby Tuesday's tried to rip off the feeling of comfort food in a family setting. Rosy Tomorrows is the original of these restaurants and the best if you want my honest opinion. They have everything on the menu to please even the pickiest of eaters. All the dishes are awesomely creative too! Last time I went, I ordered a layered salad and it came presented in a giant martini glass so that you could see all the layers as you ate them. The service here is excellent, as is the casual environment. The only thing is that there is always a wait to eat here on busy nights. Worth the wait though :)

The Blue Colony is al most an institution off exit 10 on i-84. Open 24 hours a day, it is the perfect place for travellers to pop in and grab a bite to eat. They serve traditional diner food here with the house specialties being waffles and carrot cake. The service here is often sarcastic and a bit off-colored, but warm and very friendly nonetheless. Town regulars are treated like royalty and often are like family to the staff. A fun place to go for a casual meal.

Sagarino's is a small grocery/convienience store located near South station. They also have a full liquor license so you can buy hard liquor, wine and beer here as well. The groceries here are pricey, but the location here is so convienient that it is perfect for odds and ends if you live in the area and forgot something on your main shopping trip. The wine section here is limited, but they always seem to have whatever I'm looking for. The staff here is super friendly and loved by locals that live or work in the area.
