If you like or have an interest in trying Indian food, you have to give this small but classy restaurant a try.
I can only tell you about the buffet that they serve during lunch, I haven't had dinner here yet.
The buffet was packed and we left early (11:30), the line was actually out the door. We got to finally sit down around 11:45 - 11:50.
The buffet really is not that large, but the food was all presented well and most everything I tried - I liked. I do not know the names of half of what I ate, other than the Tandoori chicken and Naan bread (I have had before). I also liked this light veggie dish of tomatoes, cucumber and onions - it had a sweet/spicy marinade, but it was very fresh and yummy. It helped balance the spiciness of everything else.
The decor is very pretty, rich pink/peach, big cushy chairs, pretty lighting. I bet it's really pretty in the evening.
If you need a break from your usual routine, this is a nice, ethnic switch.

Brookdale Discount 8 theater has discount written all over it - inside and out.
I have taken my daughter here a few times. Tickets are $2 each. The movies shown here have been out around 4 - 5 weeks, which is where the discount comes in.
I think this place is run down and am amazed that they don't take the time to improve it. The carpeting on the floors is dirty, the bathroom tile is broken off in big sections and there is writing all over the stalls.
The actual viewing theater is not that bad, but it's small and very plain. The lighting and audio are just "OK".
Note: The take cash and check only .
My verdict - Wait for the movie to come out on video and watch it in the comfort of your home.

The 50's Grill in Brooklyn Center, has been around for a very long time. I remember going as a teenager with friend's of mine - we would go just for their huge, creamy milkshakes.
This is a family friendly restaurant with a 1950's theme. The waitresses are dressed in clothes of that era as is the rest of the decor.
The theme is fun, but people really come for the food and ice cream. They have awesome hamburgers on fresh, soft buns (I get mine grilled a little) and the onion rings are yummy too. They have delicious ice cream shakes in many flavors(they will actually let you concoct your own) - they come in a big silver cup and each one is enough to fill your shake glass cup twice -my favorite flavor is a plain stawberry topped with whipped cream.
The service has been good on all occasions - a few times we have had quite a wait, but I think it's worth it.

The Brookdale Firestone is my choice for getting minor repairs and oil changes done on my car.
As a woman, I am naturally a little paranoid about car service shops. You hear the statistics of us being taken for a ride because our general lack of knowledge of this machine called the automobile.
I am not one who is nieve, so I did my homework when choosing a place to have service done on my car. I like Firestone because I have never once been lied to, upselled for things my car didn't need or had unprofessional service.
I go in and get an oil changes every 3 months, and each and every time, I am in and out in less than an hour. I usually just go across the street to Brookdale Mall and do a little shopping to kill the time - they just call me on my cell when there done.
These guys are so friendly - they welcome me the minute I get in the door, they are open to me asking my car questions and have many times checked little things out at no cost.
I bought a set of tires last year w/ a warranty. After the storm that we had in September (you know, the one that took all the trees down - scary!) Well, I got stuck driving in that storm and ended up damaging my tire because of all the debris in the street. Firestone was able to replace the tire (at a minimal cost due to the warranty) very quickly and did a rotation and I was off. That really gave me piece of mind. They also send me a coupon reminder when I need to get my tires rotated (also free with warranty)
A good way to try them out without a big investment is to save one of those oil change coupons you get in the mail. They usually are for less than $15. I am sure you will be satisfied.

Palomino is a very chic, contemporary and romantic restaurant - it is beautiful inside with an atmosphere that is almost intoxicating.
This is a first class establishment, especially if you are there for a dinner or special occasion. The staff provide top-notch service, they are very professional and serve you with style.
To be honest, I have eaten here on many different occasions, and have only had one meal item off the menu; the baked 4-cheese penne.
The penne is served in a round ceramic dish that arrives to your table still sizzling with cheese bubbling. The dish consists of penne noodles, 4 different cheeses and a delicious, zesty sauce. This dish is topped with seasoned bread crumbs that are nice and browned.
After dinner, you have to try a a Latte - their coffee is so rich - the smell alone puts a smile on your face. For dessert, you can't lose with their Tiramisu; it is very moist, rich and delicious and topped with big shavings of chocolate.
The price is fair for the value and experience. If you are planning on a night out, the Palomino is upstairs from the Hard Rock Cafe and in the same building as the State Theatre and across the street from Gameworks.

Nissi is a large convenience store full of variety. It is located in the Baker building, next to Taco Bell and Dairy Queen.
You will find a large selection of candy bars, candy, gum, and mints as well as individual candies and chocolates (even those small Lindt chocolate balls – yum!)
For snacks, they have many snack bars, bags of nuts, chips, individual bags of microwave popcorn, fruit snacks, trail mix , yogurt and cheese sticks.
For beverages, it’s I don’t think there is anything they don’t sell. You can get bottled or canned sodas, energy drinks, large selection of juice and flavored / non-flavored water, milk and iced tea.
If you want the latest magazine or even a cute stuffed animal – you can get those too. They actually have a large selection of Beanie Babies. You can get greeting cards, wrapping paper, gift bags, bows and other cute gifts.
If you not feeling too hot, you can grab individual pkgs of medicine, a nice big box of Kleenex or even chicken soup.
Other miscellaneous things they sell are, nylons (not cheap!), books, lighters, cigs, single envelopes, stickers and balloons.
Prices are what you would usually pay in other convenience stores downtown, but a few high priced items are Nylons, full size toiletries and medicine.
Note: They take cash and credit, but have a $5.00 minimum charge policy. If needed, they have a cash machine on site.

I know many people like Cracker Barrel and I am happy for each of their "good" experiences. I, on the other hand, did not have a great, first-time experience.
I brought my daughter on a Friday evening for dinner. There was a waiting list, so we took a peek around their General Store. I did enjoy the store and it took my mind of the wait. They had many old-tyme candies from when I was younger as well as some older toys - it brought back lots of memories and my daughter enjoyed looking too.
I was also impressed with the novelty of the "country - back in the day" theme throughout the restaurant as well as the fireplace. We actually got to sit across from the fireplace, which was nice.
It all went bad when I was served my food . I was craving a steak in a bad way - I ordered mine Medium well (no pink) and it came back medium rare - that made me lose my appetite, but they offered to make me something else. I tried the pot roast and this was actually worse - the meat was very fatty and all mushed up - this was no pot roast I grew up with. I was so disappointed, not to mention hungry. They offered to make me something else, in which I passed.
My daughter had a chicken and dumpling meal and she really like it and they also gave her a free ice cream for the trouble.
I suppose I could chock this up as an isolated incident, but for a first time visit, and to walk away without being able to eat - that will have to be my last.

Rocky's serves up a pretty hefty pan size pizza - you can buy either by the pie or by the slice. The main attraction for me is the soft, pie-like crust and the sweet, zesty tomato sauce. I have never had a bad tasting pizza here.
I do have to admit, this restaurant has gone down hill a bit over the past few years - it's not as kept up on the inside and the staff on my last visit were not really customer service oriented. The salad bar also was not up to par - some of the veggies were not fresh and a few other items were out.
The pizza makes up for the disappointments, I just really think it is that delicious. They also have pretty good breadsticks w/ marinara.

Sorrentos is a little Italian restaurant in the Soo Line building in Downtown Minneapolis. (Skyway level on fifth and Marquette) They have a buffet style line-up, where you can choose from many items/specials. Meals come with a house salad or pasta salad and bread choice. The portions are rather large, so be prepared to share or take home for dinner. My favorite item is the Lasagna – it has lots of layers of tender noodles, a delicious thick sauce, lots of gooey cheese and Italian sausage. They also have excellent spinach lasagna. You can also get pizza by the slice. (Great veggie options)
The food is reasonably priced – under $6.50, for a combo meal and I think the pizza is $2.50 per slice (they have a pizza meal options as well for under $5.00). There is plenty of seating, nice Italian décor and music and the Owner and staff are very friendly and upbeat - I have always had a great experience here.
