With over two-hundred outlet stores, Woodbury Common Premium Outlets bousts to have impressive savings on designers from Dolce & Gabbana to Gap to Prada. However, in my experience, Woodbury Common is very hit or miss.
For one thing, depending when you go, you can truly find some great deals or strike out all together. Also, some brands, like D&G, are hardly discounted. $1,000 for a pair of jeans is hardly a steal.
Still, perfumes can usually be found at great prices and you'll usually come across at least one designer shirt you'll like for less than $20. The question is, will it be worth your time and energy?

Jalapeno corn bread, booya gumbo, blackened catfish, creole wings and spicy gingerale rum drink are just a sampling of what's on the menu at Great Jones Cafe. Throw in an old school jukebox that plays a lot of greats like Johnny Cash and a bust of Elvis in the window and you've got a one of a kind Southern dining experience.
Just get there early since seats, both at the bar and at tables, fill up fast.

$1 is all you need at Fried Dumpling. Five fried, crescent-shaped dumplings either stuffed with pork or vegetarian style are yours for the value of four quarters. Still hungry? That's fine. A lincoln will get you four pork puns to go with that. Or how about some hot & sour, wonton or egg drop soup? whip out some more chance and you can cash this all down with a Snapple or some high-protein soy milk.

..there's also Emack & Bolios. This gourmet organic ice cream shop has won Zagat's best ice cream specialty shop three years in a row and running. After trying just one spoonful, it's no wonder why.
Uniquely named flavors run the gamet from Caramel Moose Prints (butterscotch ice cream, a caramel swirl and chocolate peanut buttercups) to Purple Cow (black raspberry ice cream with blueberries as well as white and dark chocolate chips) to their star and my favorite Grasshopper Pie (crème de menthe liquor with Oreo chunks and chocolate flakes).
What makes Emack & Bolios even more appealing is how hard it tries to fit everyone's dietary needs. So whether you're lactose intolerant, trying to cut back on sugar and/or trying to cut back on calories, there's some sort of ice cream selection for you here.

Normally I'm not a big doughnut person but there's always an exception to every rule. In this case, Doughnut Plant is where I can't help but give into those doughy treats.
When fresh, these doughnuts are so amazingly soft, so amazingly delicious, they practically melt in your mouth. Valrhona chocolate and powdered maple sugar happen to be my favorites but there are many flavors to choose from including seasonal specialties such as roasted chestnut, rose petal, and a Yankee Donut with blueberry pin stripes.
Where Dunkin Donuts is the fast food version, Doughnut Plant is gourmet all the way.

Ceci-Cela is all about French pastries. Croissants, crème brûlée, brioches, napoleons -- they're all there. Ceci-Cela also puts together a pretty good cup of hot chocolate, a drink that's perfect in these long cold months.
However, the service is slightly lacking and the pastries are far from the best in NYC. So, Ceci-Cela is a bakery to check out if you're in the area but not one to go out of your way to visit.

A great restaurant with amazing decor, Balthazar is one of those places that you just must eat at one day. At least, that's what all the guides to NYC seem to agree upon. All I know is the few times I've dined there I've always throughly enjoyed my meal which obviously is the most important part of a dining experience.
Still, what I like most about Balthazar is it's bakery. Far more inexpensive than a meal at it's neighboring restaurant and far tastier to this sweets loving gal, Balthazar's bakery is chock full of French delicacies. My absolute favorite is the chocolate bread, which sadly is only available on weekends.
Word to the wise, try stopping by 8PM when what baked goods are left face a hefty discount.

A cozy little cafe, 71 Irving Place Coffee & Tea Bar is a great place to relax at with a nice cup of tea, a pipping hot cup of joe or a delcious bit of chocolate souffle. The atmosphere is inviting even if the place cam get a bit crowded, especially around lunch time and the after work rush.

Most of my ancestry is German and Austrian so, needless to say, I've eaten at my fair share of places with food as fun to pronounce as glühwein and verschiedenes. Of them all though, Killmeyer's Old Bavarian Inn is one of the best.
Located on Staten Island, Killmeyer's Old Bavarian Inn is a restaurant that simply must be experienced. The atmosphere is authentic from the vintage steins to the beer garden to the waitresses decked out in embroidered dirndls.
All sorts of German dishes are on the menu from sauerbraten to gulasch to maultaschen but for those who aren't big on such cuisine the Filet Mignon salad with marinated Portabello mushrooms is a steal for $15.
