My only dealing with Jefferson House apartments was a rather bad one. I went in, well-dressed, in search of a rental. I was politely informed that it would "probably be out of my price range, so thank you and have a nice day." I have since found out that they actively discourage students from renting, and the few that are successful are not treated very well. That's more than enough info for me to pass on this rental. I also have heard from friends that they take you to court if you're late on rent, even by a few hours.

If you can climb your way up to Federal Hill Park, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic view of the Inner Harbor. As another reviewer mentioned, this is a great spot to watch the Independence Day fireworks without dealing with the craziness of typical Inner Harbor crowds. Overall, a nice place to relax and regroup when visiting the city for the day.

Druid Hill tends to get a bad wrap, as it's often labeled as being "in a bad area." However, during my many trips to Druid Hill Park and the Baltimore Zoo on the property, I've found the park to be quite pretty and my experience enjoyable. The last time I was there, they also had a frisbee golf course for those interested in such a sport. Overall, DH Park has some great grounds that are well worth checking out.

I used this Medical Center as my primary care provider while residing in Baltimore and was less than pleased with the quality of service I received. Though the lobby is pleasant and the building looks pretty cool, the individual floors are OLD and are in need of repair. One good part is that there's a Rite Aid in the basement, so there's no need to find a nearby pharmacy for refills. I wouldn't suggest using any physicians at the Internal Medicine department-- the physicians and nurses seemed downright aloof and inconsiderate of their patients' concerns.

Wyman Park Apartments is a hidden gem tucked into the corner of Hampden. While it's a little too far away to attract a large throng of college students, it's on the shuttle's main route that includes all major grocery stores in the area. Apartments are HUGE, including a kitchen, dining room, and living room in addition to bedrooms. The main downside to this apartment is that there's no AC, so you're on your own to fight the heat. There's also a large back yard that's perfect for grilling or relaxing on a sunny afternoon.

Eddie's is conveniently located on North Charles Street in the heart of Roland Park. I would classify it as an upscale grocery store with a deli to-die for. Prices are higher than what you'd find at Safeway or Superfresh, but it's also a more pleasant atmosphere. You can also find a smaller version of this store on St. Paul Street in Charles Village. I don't think I could make this my primary grocery store, but it won't break the bank for occasional trips.

Wyman Towers is home to many, many Johns Hopkins students. This high rise is conveniently located for most undergraduates, so you'll find a large younger population here. The apartments themselves are nothing to crow about, but they are relatively safe and clean. You can find cheaper and better quality apartments on University Parkway than those on Charles Street/St. Paul, so keep that in mind.

The Carolina Apartments are sandwiched in between the green-canopied University West 104 & 106 and the Broadview Apartment high rise. These two-three story apartment buildings have a small front lawn, brick hallways, and have an older feel inside. They're not the largest of apartments, but the hardwood flooring and brick accents give the buildings character. I haven't heard too many bad things about these apartments, but I'm pretty sure they don't have AC.

Although I was happy with my selection of apartments while living in Baltimore, Woodcliffe Manor would have been my backup choice in apartments. They are tucked back away from University Parkway between the Broadview and Hopkins House. They're set up like a little complex, as opposed to the high rises so popular in the area. The apartments are pretty spacious with large decks and lots of natural light. The kitchen is a little cramped, but not too bad. The price is a bit steep when compared with nearby accommodations, but it's a quiet complex.

As a Baltimore resident for over four years, I can safely say that I've never seen an apartment building in such a sorry state as the Allston. The joke on the block, this apartment building never seemed to be locked, windows were always broken or busted out, and there was always some rumor going around about the latest crime that took place at Allston. Beware, renters. Beware. They might fix it up for a week or so, but then it slips back into its sorry self.
