For years, I referred to this mall as "The Cookie Mall" as a result of the delicious, huge cookies sold at one of the food court's snack stands. I've watched this mall through its ups and downs, and now I think, unfortunately, it's in a permanent downward spiral. Stores seem to be closing faster than the spots can be filled again. It's still in operation, which says something, but it's nothing like its glory days of the early 1980s.

Although I've since seen bigger malls, Ross Park Mall was always the "big, overwhelming mall" where I'd more than likely get lost a time or two while inside. They've got every store you can imagine and then some. It's not the newest of malls though, and although they've been doing renovations and refurbishments to update parts, I think I'd rather hit the new Pittsburgh Mills.

The Mall at Robinson is a fantastic new addition to the shopping available in Robinson Township. Rather than having to trek out to South Hills Village, we can now just meander over to the new mall, complete with Starbucks, several anchor stores, the world's largest Dick's Sporting Goods, and internet kiosks for checking our email. If that's not enough, there are plenty of soft couches around to plop down on when we get tired. Does it get better? Well, for every dollar you spend at the mall, you accumulate points that can be redeemed for gifts like Yankee Candles and gift certificates. Finally, a Chuck E Cheese for grown ups!

I have never seen so much glitter and sequins in one place in my life than in this women's clothing boutique (and I'm a Las Vegas historian, for crying out loud!) Although prices here are far from inexpensive, the store caters to a special taste in clothing, namely loud and sparkly. Not my taste, but I'm sure it makes plenty of other people happy. As long as they don't make me wear it.

Hometowne Sports heralds pretty much anything and everything Pittsburgh. From an extensive collection of Steelers' merchandise (I wonder why...) to Penguins' and Pirates' stuff, this store has it. Prices are a bit higher than what you'd find in discount retailers, but this place has great selection. I've shopped here on occasion for the Steeler fans in my life.

For creative and affordable jewelry, you really can't beat Accentricity. Part of the shop's allure is its display of sparking crystal pendants and gold-dipped leaves and pine cones hanging from satin cording. Prices are pretty darn affordable ($10 or less), and browsing is encouraged. While I wouldn't call the jewelry the highest of qualities, all of the jewelry I've purchased at Accentricity is still in great condition.

The Beehive was buzzing long before Starbucks made its mark on Pittsburgh. This unique coffee house relies on its eclectic decor and quirky atmosphere to bring in patrons of all ages. However, when I've been in here, I can't help but wonder when the beatniks and their bongos will be coming in to join me. The coffee is okay, but not amazing. The atmosphere is worth it, but the coffee isn't.

Who needs FAO when you've got S. W. Randall? I remember going here when I was little and absolutely loving the selection of toys and games. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind gift, this is the place to find it. They've got everything from Legos to Hello Kitty and a ton of classic wooden toys. Such a great store in Station Square!

I'm a huge fan of the Gateway Clipper Fleet. I've been on most of the ships, which range from some pretty small vessels to the rightfully named Majestic. The most popular tours are the dinner dance cruises, where you'll sail up and down the rivers while enjoying a buffet and live music. I recommend the Latin American themed nights, when they usually have some pretty awesome salsa band perform. I'd give it 5 stars, but it's not cheap for a night out, and alcohol/blended beverages are very expensive. Overall, though, a really fun night out on the rivers!

Buckingham Fountain is one of the many fantastic free attractions that Chicago has to offer. Located in Grant Park, this huge fountain makes scheduled huge blasts of water. Just imagine a much much smaller Old Faithful. The fountain itself is quite beautiful and its intricate design is alone worth the visit. Grab a bench and enjoy the free show.
