California Academy of Sciences - Steinhart Aquarium 1/11/2006

The Steinhart Aquarium is located within the California Academy of Sciences. It is a fabulous place to visit, for both children and adults. Highlights of the aquarium are the crocodile and alligator pits (yes they are real!!), the fish roundabout which is a circular glass aquarium where visitors are in the center with the fish swimming around them and the dolphin pool, where the dolphins can be viewed from underneath the water. The roundabout is truly magical. You feel like Arial the Little Mermaid with all the fish swimming around you! The dolphin pool is neat because you can see the dolphins swimming and occasionally leaping out of the water! Sometimes they will even come up to the glass to gaze back at the people. There are an amazing variety of fish and sea creatures in the aquarium tanks. Some even glow in the dark! more
