We spent the afternoon at the waterfront and had lunch at Ivar's. Even during the lunch hour rush the wait for our food was quick. The calamari was delicious, the fish and chips were wonderful as usual. The staff was fast and efficient and even under pressure friendly and full of smiles.
Go on a day that is warm so that you can sit outside and feed the seagalls. This entertained us for a long time, but we quickly ran out of fries to share with the birds. I would suggest bringing a loaf of cheap bread to extend the feeding experience. The outside seating was very clean which surprised me since the birds were everywhere.
The food was very affordable for a family of 5, but the amount of fries were too small since we shared with the birds : ).

You have to be brave to attempt this place on a rainy weekend, as it can be very crowded and very loud.
The pizza is just ok, the salad bar is nothing to rave about, but the kids love this place. This location has updated it games and rides and cleaned up the place (it's not as dark).
You can always find a coupon for this place in the Sunday newspaper which gives a pretty good deal for a meal and activities for the family. The preschoolers love the "hamster cage" climbing toy and the baby loves the car rides and the new tot area with games and rides for toddlers. The school aged children and the adults too love the video games and the older activities. For some of the games you get tickets that can be redeemed for prizes, we are saving ours for something that will last longer than the car ride home.
The security on this place is great. Everyone is stamped with a number and children can only leave with adults with the same number, but no security system is perfect and watching your children is still very important.
The staff is young and not very customer oriented. The food is very basic pizza fare. But the entertainment for children is worth the trip for a rainy day activity.

This farm is amazing and worth the drive from Seattle. We went on a weekday morning and found no crowds, though I have heard that the weekends are very busy.
We had lunch in the restaurant in the General Store. The seating is limited and we had to wait for 35 minutes for a table. The food was great and not overly priced.
You can shop for fresh produce and products in the general store, pick fresh fruit in the fields, or go to the country fair.
We went to the country fair and for a small admission fee you are able to do everything as many times as you can. There are pony rides, old farm equipment to climb on, a steam engine ride, a roller coaster, other small amusement rides and a petting area.
Because we were there on a week day, the lines were short and the children could go on the ride over and over. The petting area had a wonderful variety of farm animals that were well cared for and a wonderful hand washing station at each exit. There is also a theater that we didn't have time to explore. The children are already planning their next trip there. Perhaps during the fall for pumpkin picking.
Check out their website ... www.rfarm.com for lists of activites and current prices.

What a wonderful, affordable day with my children. We went on a weekday in the morning and the park was not crowded at all. The walk from the parking lot was short and easy. The park easily accommodated my stroller along the paths.
We took the tram through the free-roaming park and saw big horn sheep, mountain goats, deer, and bison. We didn't go at feeding time, but were told later that this was the best time to see all of the animals. We also chose a day that was sunny and bright and found out that the animals usually hide in the shade on these days. I would encourage you to visit on a cool and cloudy day to see the most animals.
The path to the other animals from the tram was easy to follow and use my stroller on. The animals looked well cared for and were very active in this area. Our favorite part was the wolf cabin where you could come nose to nose with a wolf through the glass walls.
The restrooms were clean and offered changing tables. The restaurant provided basis food that was not overly priced, but we packed our own lunch and ate one of the outside picnic tables.
Check the website for current prices and for seasonal activities.

Are you looking for a fun and inexpensive activity for a Friday or Saturday evening? The Grape Adventure offers wine tasting. What a fun evening to taste a few wines, learn about wine, the area it came from, and talk with other adults.
The owners of this store are friendly and knowledgable. They can offer a variety of wines and match one to what you like and need.
They sell a variety of wines at a great price, have wonderful products that create wonderful gifts, and make you feel comfortable.
Ask about their wine club, we joined this for $25 per month and get two bottles of wine of their choice. You fill out a questionaire and they pick out two bottles to match your likes. So far they haven't missed. Last month we had a wonderful bottle of wine and an amazing bottle of Sparkling Rose Wine - yummy!! I am not a wine expert - in fact I have very little wine knowledge, but the owners of this store are changing that.

If you are the mom of children ages birth to 1st grade then this is the group for you.
This is a support group for moms who have preschoolers. It meets twice a month on Tuesdays during the school year from 9:30 to 11:30. They have classes for children and the children have a story, craft, activity and snack. There is a small meeting fee to cover the cost of the craft.
The mom's meet together for a speaker, craft, and snack. The speakers are chosen to meet a need that moms have. The crafts are always something that can be completed during the meeting and are very cute. It is always such a feeling of accomplishment to walk out with a cute craft that I created without being interrupted by my children. The speakers are wonderful and always have something that I need to hear.
The other women in the group are friendly, inviting and always encouraging.

My son attended this preschool on the recommendation from many other friends. We chose this school because it is one of the few preschools that is not a co-op and affordable. With two other children I was not able to work at the school.
The teachers are so caring and truely care about each child. They have lots of fun activities and projects for the children and the art projects they bring home are amazing.
My son loves attending school here and looks forward to it each day he has class. I have never heard anything bad about this school or seen anything that would make me question the integrity, teaching, or care.
Parents are able to be involved as much as they are able. Children are taught through play, songs, and activites and are not pushed.
