The Nine Pound Hammer is the darkest, homiest, most blue collar/artist friendly bar in all of Seattle. It used to hold the title of smokiest, but since the recent law passed, now you can actually see a person sitting four barstools away. They serve strong drinks with a neighborhood attitude. The nine pound is a great "grab a drink after work" joint and has a pool table, shuffleboard and pinball.
Order a house margarita and you will grow hair on your chest like Scott. get yer butt down to the 9# where they'll leave a dim light on for you!

The Elk, is a fun, neighborhood place to grab a beer and food, and makes the best tuna sandwich ever!
I drive all the way from Seattle to get some of their amazing sandwiches. Huge chunks of perfectly cooked Ahi (yes Ahi, that king of tunas, no chicken of the sea here), are decorated with fresh cucumbers and some sort of tasty wasabi mayo all shoved in between a fat roll. If you are travelling on I-90 this is a convienent and completely worthwhile food stop. Watch out though, you might end up telling stories of that time you "crashed in Spokane" if you get comfy with the giant beer menu and laid back atmosphere.
*"Crashed" as in spent the night, don't drink and drive.

A Piece of Cake has the most delicious red bean cakes in the i.d. They swirl the red bean paste through the pastry so instead of getting a lump of heavy sweet paste in the middle of the flaky pastry, the flavor is swirled thoughout. Yummy!
