La Bodega is a tapas bar in Minneapolis. It is located in the Lynn-Lake area (Lyndale, Lake St). This restaurant is kind of out of place for the area. The area boasts many restaurants, most of which offer lots of food at usually reasonable prices. La Bodega, unfortunately, is too high priced for what you get. The restaurant serves mainly tapas..small fancy appetizers. For someone like my fiancee, this simply isn't enough food. It doesn't fill him up. The food, while tasty, is just too expensive and not filling enough. They do have good wine, but it is also expensive, unless you catch wine specials, usually only held on weekdays.

I just saw Cirque du Soleil~Delirium last night. I loved it. Another fabulous show put on by the cirque folks. This show is based primarilly on live music..features live singers and a band on stage for many of the scenes/acts. This show, like all the others, featured amazing set pieces. Delirium had a long narrow stage with scrim curtains on either side. These scims were used throughout the show to project amazing moving images on them. It really added to the set, and the overall show. There were so many images constantly changing, making for an incredible experience. This show, though featuring music, has just as many acrobats as the other shows. The acrobats were amazing! Though it has completed its 2 day tour in Saint Paul, I'm sure it moves on to other cities. Check it out if you get a chance.

I have been on one cruise with Carnival. I am a cruise junkie and can also tell you about Royal Carribean and Norweigan Cruiselines. I think Carnival is the "starter" cruise line. It is more popular with young people. The ships are okay, but not as clean or as new as some of the other lines. I did not think the food was that great. Their dinners were alright, but the breakfast and lunch buffets were not that great. Carnival did offer fun parties on the pool deck. If you want to try Carnival, try looking for a newer ship with excellent ports.

Great Waters Brewery is a good restaurant in Downtown St. Paul, MN. They offer your typical grill fare; burgers, chicken, appetizers, etc. They also, of course, brew their own beer. Though I am not a beer fan, they looked to have a good selection and I have heard it is good. They also have some good happy hour selections. Last night, I had a 1/2 lb burger with bleu cheese and mushrooms. It was excellent! The sandwiches normally come with seasoned kettle chips, but you can get fries at an extra cost. The fries were pretty good as well. The restaurant also offers outside seating on their "mini nicolett mall", a pedestrian walking mall...complete with cobblestone.

The Residence Inn in Roseville is a great place to stay. My dad and Stepmother stay here when they come to town. It is conveniently located just north of downtown Mpls. It is right off of Hwy 35W, just take the County Road D exit. The hotel offers suites, which are very nice. They have a bedroom, bathroom, and separate living room/kitchen. The kitchen is better than I've seen in most suites. It has a full sized fridge, mini stove, microwave, and is fully stocked with silverware, (glass) wine glasses, plates, etc. What a great place to stay! It has a large couch, tables, chairs, and of course a t.v. They also have a breakfast area downstairs with a decent little breakfast~french toast, waffles, juices, cereals, yogurt. The same area offers free evening meals such as hot dogs or light sandwiches during the week. Amenities include an excercise room and swimming pool.

The Science Museum in Saint Paul, MN is featuring a wonderful exhibit right now, Bodyworlds. This exhibit is worth checking out. I went on Mother's Day with my family. It features real bodies that have been stripped of their skin to show muscle systems, bones, and even artery systems. They are posed in different ways. For example, the exhibit features a runner, posed in a running stance of course. Some of the bodies even show skin...even including tattoes (that made it really real). There is a separate room with mother and fetus inside of her. Some may not want to check this out. This room also features several fetuses. All in all though, it was a very well done exhibit. It runs from now until September, so you do have time to see it. I think I'll be heading back with my fiancee's mother, who works in the medical field.

Acapulco is a chain Mexican Restaurant, but it's really good and worth checking out. My fiancee and I went to the one in Blaine recently. It was a Saturday night and we did not have reservations. We settled down in the bar with their excellent chips and salsa and a margarita. Within like 10 minutes, we had a table. The atmosphere is a lot of fun because they have a small Mexican band that walks around and sings songs to everyone. Lots of fun for families. I ordered the seafood enchiladas and was pleasantly suprised. The food was very fresh..not frozen fake seafood. The sauce was not a super heavy cream sauce. It was light and delicious. My fiancee had more traditional beef enchiladas and loved them as well. We shared a 32 oz. margarita..yummy! Clean, fun, and excellent food..we will go back!

Hobbit Travel is a travel agency based out of Minneapolis. They also have a website, www.hobbittravel.com. This travel agency seems to have terrific deals. The prices of airfare, resorts, and cruises seem so cheap! If you are a travel nut like me, you love to look at websites. You see this website and you get excited to travel. Then you call them (because you can not purchase online, another bad thing about their website), and you realize that they really do mislead you. The prices they list on the website do not include any taxes or fees that the travel agency institutes. The prices end up being MUCH higher than what is listed. Also, the prices listed are usually for like one week of off season travel, dates you would normally not travel. You are better off to check out travelocity, orbitz, or cheap tickets.

World Market is one of my favorite stores for accesories and ethnic food items. World Market is like a huge Pier One, but better. They have items from all around the world, including glassware, casual china, bath items, pillows, furniture, jewelry, outdoor furniture and accesories, draperies, and bed coverings. They have many dry food items from the world, including coffee, crackers, spreads, spices, cookies, pastas, sauces, and candy. The store also has a huge selection of kitchen accessories and baskets. It is a one stop place for gifts, as they also have cards and gift bags.

My favorite movie theatre in the Twin Cities is the Riverview Theatre. This theatre was built in the 1940's, but retains decor from the 60's. It is so mod and cool! The decor is fabulous 60's design, very well done. There is a concession stand out front. Many historic pictures from newspapers give you a real sense of the history of the theatre. The theatre itself is huge! Although it is not stadium seating entirely, some seats do rise up. The sound system in this theatre is quite good too. The Riverview shows second run movies. Its a great cheap date night!
