I just recently visited Lowe's Home Improvement Store for the first time. I have to say I was impressed. It is more like a Home Depot than a Menards in layout, yet the products seem to be a lot more high end than Home Depot. We recently bought a house and have a lot of work to do in the kitchen and bathroom. Lowe's had the best selection of tile I have seen at any of the "big box stores". Their prices did seem a bit higher on a few items than Menards, but sometimes the better selection would make me stop at Lowe's first.

I recently visited the Monona Terrace Convention Center while at a convention in Madison, Wisconsin. We ate dinner here one evening. This convention center is beautiful. It is located on the isthmus in Madison, Wisconsin and offers gorgeous views of Lake Monona. What a gorgeous lake. Our dinner was held in a room with floor to ceiling glass over the lake. It was fun to watch the sailboats and yachts and glance at the million dollar homes. The food was quite good as well. The convention center offered several rooms. It was new, very clean, and spacious. I would recommend having an event in Madison at this center.

I just returned from a nice stay at the Marriot in Middleton, Wisconsin. I stayed for 3 nights and was very happy with the accomodations. The rooms are spacious and offer 2 double beds with plush down comforters, 2 sets of pillows, and chenille throws. They were very comfortable. There was also a desk and chair in the room, and an additional chair.
The bathroom featured a nice marble counter and Bath and Body Works lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. What a special treat. It was Orange Ginger. The hotel itself features rooms on all four sides of a grand atrium. The atrium has 2 glass elevators and a waterfall. The hotel restaurant and bar are in the atrium area. We ate several meals from the restaurant, served buffet style for our convention. They were all excellent. The hotel offers a very nice pool area with hot tub. There is also a stunning gym, with everything you need to work out, including flat panel t.v.'s! (that is number 1 on my list for a gym!). I would say the only negative to this hotel is that you can hear some atrium noise in your room when the parties are going on in the bar area. It wasn't bad by the bed area though.

Hope's Chinese in Spring Lake Park, MN isn't the best Chinese buffet in town. We checked it out last night. We walked into a very old Country Kitchen style restaurant, which is fine. They still have a smoking section though, which was immediately upsetting. The food was dry and overcooked. The egg rolls, one of my favorite chinese foods, were dry and gross. The cabbage was shriveled up. The crab legs were old and brown. The food selection on the buffet was also very slim, and almost all entrees were over cooked. It basically seemed like the lunch buffet was just left out for dinner. We'll be finding other chinese restaurants for our next chinese meal.

I visited the Freight House in Stillwater, MN over the weekend. This restaurant/bar is located right on the St. Croix River. It hosts one of the largest decks around; it's huge! The restaurant has excellent drinks and tasty food. I had the Mango Tea (w/alchohol); it was the perfect summer drink. The appetizers are wonderful. My group shared the artichoke and crab dip and the sweet potatoe fries. I had the Asian burger as my entree~a spicy pork burger with cabbage and peanut sauce. It was delicious. It tasted like eating a burger with peanut butter. This is a great place to take friends and enjoy a wonderful evening outside, gazing at the scenic river, yahts, and old time River boats.

Spring Lake Amusement Park in Spring Lake, MN is a lot of fun. It is the "old school" miniature golf course type of park. This park dates back to at least the Seventies, I'd guess. They have the old stone creatures for the mini golf holes. They are so cute and charming! They have 2 of these older courses, and one new course. The new course is really hard and not nearly as fun! It's like regular golf. The park also has a "Water wars area" where you can throw water balloons at one another! The park also has an arcade. The best thing about the park, however, is the giant black lab/newfoundland dog, named Elliot, that roams the park. He is so friendly and so cute!

"They're hot, they're fresh, they're warm... that's what I heard as our local shipping company treated us to Krispy Kreme Donuts this a.m. at work. Krispy Kreme donuts are a treat, especially when they come fresh from the actual bakery, as opposed to the gas station down the street. These donuts are filled with sugar and they are so soft and good. They are not filling, however; you will need at least two donuts to feel as full as you would from a normal donut. Krispy Kreme donuts are a glazed type of donut, not cake. They come in regular glazed and many other varieties..including chocolate cake (one of the only cake ones), sprinkles, and chocolate icing. I also love the pumpkin ones, available in the fall months.

Trocaderos Nightclub and Restaurant is located in Minneapolis, MN, in the warehouse district near the river. I worked on a show in the nightclub the other night, and it is really nice! This place is very new and very clean; you're not talking about a dingy dirty dark nightclub here. The club itself is two levels, with modern, trendy, artsy bars on each level. The second level boasts fun velvet and leopard print material couches. There is a nice stage on the main level. The main level has velour booths and extra seating. Their is a downstairs area for performers to rest and get ready. Upstairs next to the nightclub is the restaurant. It has it's own bar as well. While I didn't eat there yet, I will; the food looks excellent!!

The Fridley Crab House is a laid back restaurant in Fridley, MN. They feature excellent happy hour specials on your typical happy hour food and CHEAP drinks. Although the crab pizza is not a special, try it; it's excellent! You will not go hungry here. My fiancee and I were hungry and ordered an app and an entree and we thought we were going to burst at the seams!! They have a bar area and a restaurant area. The bar area offers live music several nights a week. This restaurant is fun and the food is decent, but it is still a smoker's restaurant, so non-smokers beware...gets a little smoky in here!

Dunn Brother's Coffee makes fabulous blended coffee drinks. Their's are called Ice Crema's. I am currently drinking a mocha one. Their blended coffee drinks do not seem to give you the after taste that their competitors blended drinks do. They almost taste like a milk shake. They have great flavors, including mocha, coffee, caramel, and caramel mocha. I've tried the mocha and the caramel mocha and I have not been disappointed. Now that summer is finally here, treat yourself!
