As soon as I walked into the Verizon store at Glen Burnie Town Center, I was greeted by someone who asked what I needed and let me know how long it would before someone could help me. She took my name, and gave me updates while I was waiting. She used my name whenever she addressed me. When the sales associate was ready, he was also very friendly, addressed me by name, and was interested in helping me find what I needed. I felt very welcome in the store and did not feel pressured to sign up on the spot.

My family took a short vacation to Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg. From the moment we arrived, I found their employees to be very friendly and accommodating. Every one of them that I passed said hello with a smiling face, and most of them tried to make conversation with me about my stay. The facilities were great for families of all types, including mine. My three year old was amazed by everything she saw and had a great time in the child sized play areas in the water park. My six month old was also happy to sit in the beach entry part of the pools and splash and play.
During our stay, the hotel lost electricity for 7 hours due to a hurricane off the coast. The hotel showed how much they cared about their guests by providing free buffet meals in the lobby, entertainers for the kids, and $100 off our next stay.

I recently shopped at Mattress Discounters in Pasadena with my husband and children. The sales person was very helpful and patient as we tried different beds to see which we liked best. He also did not seem to be bothered by my daughter who was in a very hyper mood and trying to play on the beds. When it came time to try to make a sale, he was not pushy. After declining once, he added a few freebies and brought the price down. When we still said we wanted to look around first, he suggested another store to check, and invited us to come back. I like that I did not feel pressured.

I used to go to this Dave and Busters in Arundel Mills back when it was Jillians and I did not have kids. Now, I take my daughter occasionally. So, I will only speak to what it has for kids. I like that they now have rules in place that require an adult to be with any minor at all times, and that each adult can only be in charge of a few kids. However, the age to bring anyone in with you is 25. Seeing as how I was a mother at 23 years old, I can see how it would be pretty unfair for a young adult to not be able to enter with their own children. At least the policy keeps the place from being too overrun with young kids running every where. I have even heard the workers ask un-attended pre teens where their parents where, and making them go over to their parents. I'm sure that wasn't too fun for the kids, but again, they are making the parents be responsible for the kids.
In terms of games, there are a lot of coin style games that young kids enjoy and they give a fair number of tickets. I also really like that the tickets can be saved on a card, and can be spent in a little store, instead of just a ticket counter. The only problem with the store is that it is too small. If you have even two groups in there, there isn't much room to move around and it is confusing as to where to stand in line. Also, I have tried using a stroller in there during a weekday afternoon, and had a lot of trouble. I don't see how a person in a wheel chair would be able to get in and look around.

I had a lot to look for on my recent trip to the Staples by Arundel Mills. When I needed to ask someone about a printer/fax/copying machine, I had to go look for someone after waiting by the machines for several minutes. When I found someone, that person had to go get a more knowledgeable sales person. He came quickly, and talked to me about everything I needed to know and more. Then, when I needed help in another section, I again had to go looking. This time I found another associate who did not know the answers to my questions, but he went to ask another associate more than once to help make sure he guided me in the right direction. So, even though I had to search out my help, they at least seemed interested in helping me to the fullest. In terms of products, I have found a lot of the business and shipping supplies cheaper online.

I spent about two hours in the Hancock Fabrics in Pasadena looking for different fabrics. It did not take so long because of the way the store was laid out, it was because of all there was to look at! I found that they often have great sales with as much as 40-50% off many fabrics, and they offer a wide selection of fabric types and designs. During my visit, I found the staff very helpful in terms of finding things and in terms of making recommendations. The person who cut my fabric was especially interested in what I was making and made sure to give me great words of encouragement on my new business venture.

Educational Etc. in Severna Park is a childhood education superstore. They carry a large assortment of educational and creative games, instruments, science toys, and crafts. They also have a large amount of classroom decorations, educational wall hangings, workbooks, and manuals. When I went into the store to browse, I found that everything was very well organized and the different areas were well marked. The staff was also very friendly and eager to help find what I was looking for.

Many of us parents or caretakers of young children have a hard time figuring out what to do to fill our days. Mugsy Meadows at Marley Station provides some great, free answers during the summer. Every Monday, they have a different entertainer for the kids. This morning, for example, was an educational program, including a puppet show, by the Maryland Zoo. Although I'm not a fan of taking children to movies, they offer free movies on Tuesday and Wednesday, and on Thursday there is a free kids' exercise program at Gold's Gym. On Fridays, you can go see different musical performers, just as they have year round. Mugsy Meadows also hosts various extra activities throughout the year, and the kids always have a lot of fun.

While China House on Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie advertises as "Eat in & Carry Out," I would not plan on eating there. There is only one table with four chairs, and that is in the hot space in front of the counter, next to the very loud refrigerators. However, there food is great if you want carry out, or if you live close enough for delivery. The best part for me is that I was able to get them to make a different sauce for my food, since the regular brown sauce has chicken broth in it, and they add tofu to my dish that would otherwise just be veggies. They have always been happy to make adjustments.

I tried to visit the Yabba Pot on St. Paul Street in Baltimore, only to find out that they had closed that location. My family made our way to their new location and were really looking forward to great vegan food. Everything we ordered was from a case of prepared foods that they put together in a large salad bowl. Nothing needed to be heated and nothing needed to be prepared. It just needed to be spooned into the bowl. Even though there was only one other table of customers there, it took half an hour to get our food. We decided to give the restaurant another chance a week later. This visit was more of a joke than anything else. My husband ordered a burrito that had refried beans, greens, and salsa in it. Only after he started eating it, he realized there were large chunks of spicy tofu in it and no beans. When he asked the server about it, she said, "Oh. They told me they ran out of beans, so they put tofu in instead." Now, I am of the opinion that she should have mentioned that to see if he still wanted it before bringing it, or at the very least mentioned the change. I ordered their weekend breakfast meal that was supposed to come with scrambled tofu and fresh, seasonal fruit. The tofu was some sort of very chewy, processed stuff that did not resemble tofu at all. The seasonal fruit was an orange slice. Again, more disappointment. We then tried ordering my daughter a lentil burger, but the were out. So, we got her a fake fish patty instead, but made sure the server knew that she would only eat it if they brought her some of the vegenaise that she had last week. The server told my husband that there would be two patties. Well, I had to ask again for the patty after fifteen minutes of waiting. Then, my husband saw it take it from a freezer and put it in the microwave. My daughter then got one patty. When my husband asked where the second was, the server said, "Oh, they told me it comes with just one." So, again, she brought us something different than what we asked for without apologizing or checking with us first. She also brought some sort of onion sauce instead of vegenaise. When we asked about the vegenaise, she said, "Oh, we're out." Once again, my husband said we only wanted the patty with vegenaise. On top of everything else, there were multiple items from the small menu that they did not have, including smoked tofu, mango juice, rice, and banana creme. As much as I was looking forward to having a vegan restaurant to frequent, I do not think we will be going back to this one. The service is slow, the selection is not as advertised, and we did not get one apology for our visit.
