I brought my bike here- it's a nice little mom and pop operation that reminds me of a cross between wheel and sproket and a treehouse. The people were cool and friendly, and there was this huge dog laying on the floor (I liked that, too. Puppies!). It was really cheap work (not cheaply done- but cheap to pay for good work). Go there if you're in the south loop (or elsewhere, I guess) for some good quality work on the old two wheeler.

Okay, what's up with this store? I mean, the stuff is marginally cute, but come on? With a name like tragically hip who really wants to go into the store anyway? It's a cross between forever twenty one, gadzooks and some funkier boutique. Still, the name. It brings pain to me. Who shops here? The prices are high and the name- the dreaded name. It sounds shallow, but there's a lot in a name, if you ask me!

These people are so great! I had a timing issue on getting my headshots done, and this guy at national photo was right there with me, helping me out despite the fact that they had a lot of problems with the photo quality and the timing. They're professional, thurough and conciencious of the needs of their consumer- me. I'd go there for any photographic imaging you need, they're pretty resonably priced and treat you like you're worth every penny.

Panera Bread's good- pretty fresh, and the bread (as advertised) is delicious. Albeit a chain, Panera is one of the more tolerable midwestern chains- everything's going to be good. I recommend the soups- the low fat chicken noodle and the seafood clam chowder is good in a bread bowl, but the pick two option- fandango salad and low fat chicken noodle- is my pick for Panera fare. Get what you like- it's bound to be pretty good, and pretty cheap, too, for the amount of food you're getting.

But good. Au Bon Pain on Michigan is good for freshness- from the salad bar to the sandwiches to even the pre-packaged stuff, au bon pain knows how to keep it fresh, albeit expensive. The salads (as an entree) are about eight bucks a piece. The atmosphere is nice and casual, though. If you're going to go there- go for breakfast- there are lots of really delicious options. I like the Museli or the granola mixes that take the morning slot in the salad bar.

I live right above Canady Le Chocolatier, but I never go in because I work at Moonstruck Chocolate. Still, I was curious. So, I went in one day and had cherry gelato and a rum raisin truffle. All made in the store, these truffles are delicate and beautiful, and I love the look of this little place- very chic, very european, and very careful. Careful in the way that the employees totally care that you're in there and patronizing their work, and they want you to be served at their best. try the gelato- very authentic, tasty and cheap. The truffles are also reasonably priced (Not what you'd expect!) and again, tasty tasty tasty.

Hey, want a shirt with a bong, a women's bathroom symbol, or "Chicago" written out on it in multiple fonts? Then go to Where the Buffalo Roam. Any drunken frat boy will love it, because they can buy useless crap there and bring it back to University of Alabama or wherever they're from. It's really just a tourist shop for dumb college kids, who think Chicago is overwhelmingly cool compared to where they're from. Did I mention the music is blaringly loud, and the prices are outrageous? Only someone truly lame and clueless could buy something from here, I'm sure of it.

In Italian Style, these better than regular salads, soups and sandwiches are nice, if not delicious. I've tried four or five different dishes here, and I'd definately go with the Albacore Tuna sandwich (of course, I'm a big albacore fan) or the Caprese salad, or try one of their very filling, very satisfying wraps. I like the wraps best because there's a lot of meat and you can take them and run. Try em, you'll like them.
Still, make sure you've got a good ten bucks to spend here- the prices are a little steep (maybe another facet of being European?) for a take-out cafe, but well worth it, if you like higher-end wraps and salad take out.

Don't get me wrong- I like columbia college. I live around there and the exhibits are cool, there always seems to be things happening, be it a film crew or some eighteen year old, tight-jeaned fashion students bumming around, trying to look cool with their parliament lights. Still, why don't these people go to the Art Institute? I never even heard of Columbia College until I moved to chicago, and there's a world-renouned art school seven blocks from Columbia's campus. What's the deal? Am I missing something?

I craved some meat one night, and patronized my local south loop club. The food is reasonably priced, though I'd say stick to bar food. It's an interesting atmosphere- diner meets bar meets sports bar- but it's close to where I live and it's the sort of place that's always bustling with drinkers. I got hit on in the takeout line, which I'll take as awesome, for now. Even in my sweatshirt and sweatpants ordering fries and a greasy burger, somebody at the south loop club finds me worthy enough to hit on. I'll take it.
