Food that's different
Friday, March 03, 2006
Mandalay Cafe is not your typical Asian restaurant. There are things on the menu that you probably haven't heard or seen before. The categories are starters, small plates, curries and rice/noodle dishes. We went for the deep-fried lentils to start, which tasted like hush puppies. We had the lamb curry--which had interesting spices. And also a squash curry, which tasted somewhat similar to a yellow curry at a Thai restaurant. Everything was delicious. The waiter was excellent at describing the various dishes--and patiently explained them to us. It's not cheap Asian food though. But it was good.
