A group of us headed over to the Queen Mary for lunch one day. The tea, food and service were all great. Leave room for dessert! The dining area is a bit tight so by the time we left, the room was full and we were squeezing by other guests. But the atmosphere is comfortable and friendly, so no one seemed to mind. A great place to gather with your girl friends. Reservations (website or call) recommended.

It's hard to get excited about a mortgage company. But my experience with Alpine was certainly positive.I can't speak for the rest of the mortgage company, but Tina Carter is certainly one of the finest folks in the business. She's professional, straight forward and honest. I had done a fair amount of research before I went to see her and she guided me through the decision process with ease.

We took our vegan friends from out-of-town here recently and we all enjoyed it. Yummy food and homey atmosphere. I believe they just recently re-opened after being closed for a month or so (renovations). Service was unbelievably slow (four sandwiches took almost an hour!) but we were in the forgiving spirit. I'm sure once they work out the kinks, the experience will be much better.

I admit that I love this theater because they show movies, not-yet-out on video, for a mere $3. I find it hard to dish out $8-$10 to watch a movie so this seems much more reasonable. The Crest gives you a classic movie going experience. It feels good to support a smaller theater in a neighborhood. However, if you're looking for those lovely, ergonomically correct seats you find at newer theaters, this is not the place for you.

Friends from out of town were visiting and they really wanted to go. So we went. The best part about it was that they had a lot of fun. There was a mystery theme and that kept everyone engaged. I found the food to be mediocre at best (atlantic salmon served in the PNW??!!) and the drinks way over-priced. But again, it was a good way to spend a cold, rainy night in Seattle with visitors.

The owner of the Creekside Inn keeps a very cute and clean operation. She is a wonderful person to talk to and helped us out in our travels very much. Our room had a small kitchen and living area. We enjoyed a few quiet evenings by the fire as well as out on the lawn with a glass of wine. If you're looking for an affordable place to stay while on the Hood Canal, i would recommend this place.

They sell a variety of plants, garden materials, pond supplies as well as bird feeders and houses. Sky is probably a bit more expensive than a chain store, but you won't find the quality and knowledge that you get at Sky.

I really can't say enough about PAWS. PAWS is the place you call when you find an injured squirrel (had to to that twice) or if you want to adopt a cat/dog/rabbit. Not only will they help with domestic animal issues, they promote thoughtful and careful living with wildlife. They have a center that rehabilitates and releases countless birds, mammals, etc...each year.

Puget Sound Grant Writers Assoc. hosts great meetings and super yearly conference. Membership gives you access to the list serve, which can be extremely helpful when you need advice from other grant writers (or when you're looking for a job).
