This is the definitive East-coast pizza slice that you crave for at 1 AM in the morning or just for a quick afternoon snack.
I think the ownership has changed over the years, but they've managed to keep their prices reasonable (with the rising cheese/dairy prices).
There are better places for restaurant-style or brick-oven pizza (L'il Frankie's, Three of Cups, John's and Lombardi's are some) but when you want a slice of NY-style pizza, this is the place. Love it.

A diner is a diner is a diner. The Frontier has a whole cowboy-theme it seems to have started with when it first opened, but it is really just your typical NYC Greek diner with decent food, big portions and good prices. There might be some lassos or boots drawn on the menu or on the wall, but I can't really remember.
It's never empty nor is it too crowded. It's not especially dirty nor is it exceptionally clean. It's just there and makes for a dependable place to get your typical diner fare. I think the only reason I remember is because it has the whole cowboy/wrangler theme going on.

spring is almost here. for those in the mood for a refreshing margarita (and willing to pay a bit more for one), head up to Zarella's.
there's not much room at the bar, but you and a couple friends can always find some room to squeeze between some patrons to order up one of their famous margaritas for around 10 bucks each. cool and refreshing, each margarita is plenty strong and just the right blend of sweet and sourness. just two of these and you are set for the night (trust me, just ask my wife), while you munch on some of the complimentary tortilla chips and watch the restaurant patrons watch you get tipsy.
if you want cheaper margaritas, there are plenty of options elsewhere in the city (check out the LES). i am no margarita fan, but i do admit that Zarella's makes some mean ones.

Saturday morning, greasy eats taste best. Great Jones Cafe is an unassuming little place with a nondescript orange exterior (you can tell you're there with the smell of grease coming out of the exhaust); inside you will find a quiet little space of couples or groups of people eating at tables. Loners can also choose to eat at the bar. Regardless of where you sit, the menu is simple: grits, biscuits, omelettes, andouille sausage and other comfort food favorites are all mouth wateringly served by friendly waitresses. You will come out with a full belly, a less noticeable hangover, just a few bucks lighter in the wallet, and a satisfied palate.

I've been there for brunch and a mid-afternoon lunch. Both times, I went in hungry, and both times, I left with a full stomach. Prices are moderate so it's okay on the wallet. However, there was nothing much to write home about. These days, it seems you can get comfort or Southern food most anywhere in the city, so I can already think of a couple places better than this:
- Mama's Food Shop (in Alphabet City)
- Great Jones Cafe (on Great Jones and Lafayette)

whether you are there for some delicious challah bread or there to get your rugelach, it is an old-fashioned, tasty local favorite that has been around for years. you won't go wrong with this place.
