What can make a gal happier than a fabulous new pair of shoes? Shoefly offers one of the most well-rounded collections of shoes in the Seattle area, and not any more expensive than you will find at Nordstrom. I love how you can browse the styles, then go to the "stacks" of boxes and try on your size. Kenneth Cole Reaction is one brand that they offer that is both affordable and trend-forward, and although they didn't have my size in a style I wanted at the Greenlake store, they had it in Bellevue and had it transferred to Greenlake at no cost to me. Also, I love their punchcard - it rewards you with a discount after you've spent a certain amount. Helpful staff and fun environment.

Don't be fooled by how generic this store looks! Somehow they manage to stock a ton of product into a relatively small space, and not just the usual convenience store fare. This is a true neighborhood grocery with fresh produce, a full deli, an amazing selection of wine and organic/gourmet offerings. Although navigating the narrow isles can be a challenge, you will find everything on your shopping list and then some. Prices are reasonable and the store is always well-staffed.

Hooray for Metropolitan Market - it is the jewel on Queen Anne Hill. Although smaller that its sister stores (thanks to a community that refuses to let huge commercial spaces take over their neighborhood), it provides top-of-the-line products and exceptional service. Produce is always fresh and abundant, and despite a lack of space for a true deli, offers many "to go" selections. Also, when we have requested they carry specific products, we will find them on the shelf the next time we shop! The perfect mix of great product and friendly, helpful staff.

This is one of the best paint and interior stores in the Seattle Area. The store is owned and staffed by women (how refreshing!) who are not only experts on product and color, but they do all of the mixing and dirty work! I have always received exceptional service, and have even been steered clear of the wrong product, thus saving me money.
Check out their full line of Benjamin Moore paints and the exclusive Devine line. They also offer upholstery and flooring products, as well as the best tools and material for painting.

This Macrina Bakery location is a bit off the beaten path, making it the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee and pastry on Queen Anne. The baked items are unquestionably some of the best in town - often sold out by afternoon, though. They also offer a great selection of salads and sandwiches. Their coffee beverages are consistently good. The staff is friendly and helpful and seem to enjoy working there - no surly baristas here. The atmosphere is casual and warm - the perfect place to idle away a morning!

As a life-long Aveda groupie, a friend recommended this salon to me a few years ago. It's a fun, friendly place with great customer service.
Michelle, the facialist, is outstanding. I can't say I've ever looked forward to getting a wax, but she is quick, thorough and the pain is minimal. Her facials are out of this world: I get glowing, clear skin and leave feeling very relaxed. I look forward to my visit every month - it's the perfect combination of "maintenance" and relaxation!

It's tough to find a place to mail a package on Queen Anne Hill, and this store fills that need. Its convenient location and long hours make it easy to pop in before or after work. The store also offers women's shoes, clothing and gift items, which I find confusing, but is probably a big draw for many shoppers.
Buyer beware: the service here is chilly and tolerant at best. Great customer service is definitely not the strong suit of this store. Also, several times I've tried to buy books of stamps and they were out of stock.

Tucked away in the "Tangletown" neighborhood (between Greenlake and Wallingford), you will find one of Seattle's best restaurants.
You won't believe the delicious infusion of flavors - everything seems to be prepared with great thought and care. The menu changes to offer the freshest selections; the wine list and desserts are also also outstanding.
The ambience: low lit, cozy and romantic, with the kitchen in full view - very european feeling. A great place for a special dinner or to bring out-of-town foodies. Also, they have a wonderful bar - perfect if you're looking for light nibbles and/or a glass of wine.
