We went to Big O Tires because we needed new tires for our Mazda and found a coupon that we could use to save us some money. They gave us great customer service, they even found a better coupon than the one that we had to save us even more money! They installed our tires very quickly and gave us free popcorn! Overall a very pleasant shopping experience, I highly recommend.

When I was 17 years old, I had a retinal detachment, meaning my retina detached from the back of my eye, causing me to lose vision in one of my eyes. This is VERY uncommon in kids so young, I have very severe nearsightedness which brought it on. The doctor that did my surgery is no longer working there, but ever since she left I’ve been seeing Dr. Munsen. Although it’s kind of a long drive for me, it is definitely worth it. My retina was repaired but I still have moments when I’m not sure if there’s something else wrong (floaters, flashers, etc.), so whenever I need reassurance I see Dr. Munsen. His techs are good and he himself is very calm and knowledgeable, he is able to see things that my normal eye doc can’t. He is extremely good at what he does and I highly, highly recommend him!

After my pregnancy, I ended up getting a very painful ingrown toenail. Like “don’t touch my foot or I’ll scream” painful. I was very reluctant to see a foot doc, my husband had been to a few and he had nothing good to say. So I decided to see a new Doctor. When I made the appointment, the receptionist was really nice and actually gave me directions to the office (that’s right, she didn’t shoo me off the phone to answer the next call, she actually cared to give me directions). When I showed up at the office, I was very surprised. You walk into her waiting room and it’s like home! She had it beautifully decorated for the holidays, there was hot cocoa to drink and magazines to read on a very comfy couch – it seriously looked like my living room. I waited a very short time to see her and she was able to fix my toe without doing any really deep cutting (thank God!!!). She is just great! They didn’t even mind me taking my then four month old son in with me. I very, very highly recommend Dr. Ketterer – seriously if you need a foot doc you’ve got to see her!

My family has been getting their prescriptions from Fairwood Pharmacy for over 10 years. The pharmacists there are extremely knowledgeable and they fill your prescription fairly quickly. A bonus is that when you’re waiting they have a great store that’s a part of the pharmacy. You can find great gifts, cards, candles, basically anything there. But be careful about how much time you spend at that store, you can easily spend a lot of money! But the good thing is that they have a “power pass” card you can register for. It’s like a club card where they track your purchases and when you reach a certain amount, they give you coupons for money off your next purchase. I have a $10 one in my wallet right now. Overall it’s a great place! Highly recommended.

My sister, mother, son and me (of course!) all go see Dr. Allen at Fairwood Primary Care. She specializes in Family practice. You cannot beat the fact that their office is so close to residents of Fairwood (which is great when you have a sick infant in the car…trust me I know). We’ve been seeing her for about six months and have been very pleased! She has great hours, and her nurse Sue is extremely nice. Being a new Mom, I talk to her quite frequently about my concerns. And if Sue isn’t available for any reason, the receptionist always has another nurse call me back right away. Dr. Allen herself is extremely laid back and pleasant to talk to. She is very good with my son and is a great Doc for me as well. As of right now, she is accepting new patients - I highly recommend her!

We’ve been taking our pets to Dr. Davidson for over ten years. First it was our dog and two cats growing up, now it’s my own family’s dog and two cats. And you can't beat that he is so close to residents of Fairwood - it takes me less than five minutes to get to the clinic. He is extremely thorough and knowledgeable about our animals and has good hours, not great hours but it’s a one man operation so what can you expect. He is a bit pricey, but even myself, a true tightwad, doesn’t mind paying a little bit more to get the care for my animals. They are a part of the family too and they deserve the care that he and his staff provide. Very, very highly recommended.

I’ve been going to Fairwood pet center since I was a kid, they have a good selection of purebred dogs, kittens and fish but they are extremely expensive! The staff has always been extremely helpful to us, but in comparison their prices are much higher than a Petsmart or a Petco. However, you can use many cat/dog food coupons there that you may not be able to use at Petsmart or Petco. They’re great for a quick “oh no, we just ran out of cat food and I don’t want to drive all the way to the mall” run, but other than that they’re just too pricey.

My Dad started going to Fairwood auto when I was just a kid – my Dad is huge into finding the best deal for his money, my Mom always jokes that he wouldn’t buy a toothpick without checking Consumer Reports first. Now I take our family cars there. We’ve gotten just about everything done there, they’re fast, their fair and I highly recommend them to everyone. And my Dad still goes there, many (not giving away my age) years later!

When I was seven months pregnant and carrying very low, some things were just impossible. Like shaving my legs. Don't even talk to me about putting socks on, thank God it was summertime! But I needed to find a good waxer, my pain tolerance is fairly low and I wanted someone who really knew what they were doing. My sister recommended this business (she gets her nails done every two weeks here). So I made an appointment and hoped for the best. The Salon itself has a nice atmosphere, very busy. I saw Estie and can definitely say that it was NOT pain-free, but she was incredibly fast and efficient. She was also very reasonable with her prices too. So if you have to get waxed, go see Estie in Renton!

For years, Fairwood only had Golden Peacock for a nice Asian restaurant. Now we have Fairwood Thai! As Thai food connoisseurs, my husband and I were eager to try it. Our verdict? Good, but not great. If you want great, go farther down Petrovitsky to Moragote. Looking for a quick Thai fix? Fairwood Thai will do. Their curries are all very good, but their noodle dishes leave something to be desired. Phud See Iw, Phud Ka Mao and Phud Thai are all just a little bit off, I think that it’s in the sauce but I just can’t put my finger on it. Overall it’s a very good restaurant and you can’t beat that it’s two minutes away!
