This is certainly a better store than your City Sports or Sports Authority since they specialize in merchandise for outdoors and camping supplies. Can't exactly say they are the best in the area. Service can sometimes be slow and unhelpful. It's a coin toss whether you get friendly service or not. If you know what you want like I usually do, then that aspect may not bother you as much. Their prices are fair but not as cheap as some people may claim.

This is a great fun store to poke your head in.
You can find anything Hershey's there. It's a bit small but they have some unique flavors of hershey's chocolate that you may not find in the store such as Cookies n Creme and Mint. There are stuffed animals, pillows in the shape of a candy bar, mugs, giant Hershey Kisses candy tins, and lots of other goodies.
If you know someone who likes chocolate, this is a good store to buy them a themed gift.

If you're in midtown and waiting to meet up with a friend, you can always drop by this store. There are two floors of comics and they also sell toys. They have plenty of comics to choose from for the hardcore collector or just the average joe who still enjoys graphic novels from time to time. They get four stars for their large selection.

Didn't understand what all the buzz was about until I dropped by the store with some friends who recommended it. It's a small store but there's plenty of Paul Frank paraphernalia. The trademark monkey logo is quite irresistable. The clothing is cute and in different bright and fun colors. Although I think that the merchandise is a bit pricey for the simplistic logo, it's still a fun store to check out.

I went looking for cat beds but they did not have a good selection. Prices were fairly reasonable but they looked shabbily made. Also, the appearance of the store really did not make the experience good. Boxes were littered in the aisle at the time and the merchandise seemed really dusty. The only plus is that they carry a large selection of toys/food/merchandise for all different types of pets.

This really is one of the best places to go for your photo needs or wants. My friend recommended this place instead of going to your Best Buy or other electronic chain stores. They have an amazing array of merchandise. Plenty of new cameras to select from and play with. Also they usually have most items well stocked. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They really live up to their reputation so 5 stars!

This is a great place to come for unique flavors. Best are the green tea and red bean flavors. Sweet but not overpowering. They have planty of flavors to choose from and they even sell ice cream cakes. I would recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth. However, be warned it generally can get quite busy with lines out the door --- mostly because the shop is really tiny -- enough room for 1.5 average persons from the wall to the counter. That's the only negative remark I can make about the store but it's worth the wait.

I would rate the location at the Fulton Pier only with "Fair." This is mostly a tourist trap because many traverse the Brooklyn Bridge and this is one of the most noticeable shops they will come across. Granted the ice cream is fairly good but not quite exceptional. Their peaches and cream and butter pecan are quite light in flavor, if that's what you like. I do have to give them credit because they claim to use all natural ingredients. However, this is still worth dropping because there is plenty of seating and the atmosphere is quite nice. Plus, you have great scenery right outside the ice cream shop.

Fay Da is another good place to try out chinese pastries. Your standard fare of sweet and salty/meat pastries and buns as compared to its competitors, Tai Pan, Yi Mei and others. I prefer their pork buns and minced meat buns here than in the other bakeries but it really is a matter of preference. Other bakeries seem to make it too salty or bland. The cakes unfortunately are not that outstanding. Last fruit/cream filled layer cake I bought there was too sweet. I would stay away from their deserts be/c they are not very consistent in flavor -- sometimes, they are either too bland or too sweet. Otherwise, it's a relatively cheap and harmless bakery to try out.

Tai Pan is famous within the Chinese communities for their pastries, cakes, and cookies. They have a diverse selection of chinese style sweet cakes, cheesecakes, meat-filled or flavored pastries/buns, sandwiches-to-go, and butter cookies. They also serve those popular bubble-tea drinks but I find them too sweet. Better to go to a cafe that specializes in the drinks. Their cakes are quite light and great for birthdays and celebrations. But you may want to order in advance because they are usually quite busy and crowded. They don't have much seating so it's better to order and go. There are usually uniformed helpers to take your order. My top recommendations are the almond or walnut cookies. They're about $5 per box. Really rich in flavor but a nice treat once in a while.
