I love going out to lunch, that is no secret, I especially love when I find a really good place. Agua Verde is one of those places. It is a cute little Mexican cafe, casual, at lunch, they serve cafeteria style - you order, pay and sit down, they bring you your food. Everything is uniquely healthy and fresh, delicious and what a view of the ship canal. The prices are decent, you can easily have lunch and a drink for under $10.

In the heart of Wedgewood, on 35th Avenue is French Nails. It is a really fun place to go to get your toes done, finger nails too from what I hear. Pedicures are a really great and in many ways a necessary treat. But it is important to go to a reliable place, cleanliness is of paramount importance when it comes to feet. At French Nails, they are thorough in their care of feet. That is what I like the most about them. They really know how to take care of feet.

...the restaurant at Pacific Place that is! Mexico is a really fun Mexican restaurant! I love to go there, I get the same lunch I am there - the Ahi Tuna Fajita is amazing! The restaurant atmosphere is fun, I have been there with a group, with a friend and by myself and in all those situations I have felt right at home. I love their fun drinks, in particular their Pomegranate Margarita. Their chips and salsa that they set on the table upon arrival really hit the spot. And of course, I have never been disappointed by the Ahi Tuna that they serve. Service there is so-so, nothing remarkable in either the positive or negative. So, next time you are catching a movie at Pacific Place, get a quick bite before or after at Mexico!

Palisades is one of those places that you go to for that really special occasion. Going there makes you want to dress up, put on the make up and be ready for an evening of pampering. And pampering you will get. The service at Palisades is impeccable (and I am picky about service). Additionally, the food is spectacular, with options to suit any taste. Drinks, wow, how smooth can they be - I can highly recommend the Lavender Cosmo, did I say wow? Finally, the view and the atmosphere are splendid. Palisades is most definitely worth the splurge.

It had been a long time since we had taken the kids to the zoo, so yesterday, when we went; I was reminded of why Woodland Park Zoo is such a wonderful place to take the kids. Of course, we love the animals and the exhibits are well put together, but what really struck me yesterday, was the wealth of educational material and information on conservation of resources and protection of animals. It amazed me to realize how much work the zoological society does to protect our environment and to protect animals. I found that yesterday, as we walked and visited with the animals, my eight year old and I spent a lot of time learning about the animals and their natural habitats as well as their status (i.e. endangered, etc.).

Last week, we went to Daniel's Broiler - mind you, I never would have chosen that restaurant on my own (steakhouse, kashrut, not a good match). But alas, we had a gift certificate that was about to expire and I figured we better use it, so I took the kids and went down town and discovered WOW, Daniel's Broiler is a really neat place. First, we arrived at 5:00 pm on a week night, perfect for the kids. We were seated by a huge window that over looked the lake. The kids were enthralled with watching the sea planes land, the boats sail, and most importantly the new baby goslings toddling around the grass by the water. I ordered a kids meal for each of the kids, then for myself I ordered an appetizer and a salad. The four of us pretty much shared everything and everything was delicious. We ordered a pasta kids meal and a salmon kids meal, an ahi tuna appetizer and the salad. Fantastic! The one negative was our server - he didn't fit with the rest of the place. We were greeted so welcomingly upon arrival and the hostess spoiled my girls, but our server was a wet noodle. Fortunately my girls didn't notice!

Noah's Bagels at University Village is a fixture. You can always count on the shop to be busy, often with longer lines. The food is always good, bagels, muffins, cookies (mmmm) and sandwiches. It is one of those lunch stops that is always a sure thing. We used to always get our Challah there on Fridays, but recently it has been a bit doughy, so I have started making it on my own. But overall, Noah's is a great stop to make while shopping in the Village.

Ok, it is true, by the time we got there, got seated, ordered and got food, I was starving and therefore, I ate well. But as far as pizza goes, Varlamos wasn't fantastic. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy going there, but I am not sure why... The food is ok, not great, the service is ok, not great, the atmosphere is fun, but not great. So, you ask, what do I like about it? Well, it is convenient, the wait to get seated isn't usually too long, it is kid friendly (i.e. noisy) and the prices aren't too bad. So take it or leave it.

Going to the gym has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. In Seattle, I have checked out, worked at, and been a member of most and I have found that for me, Mieko's just fits. It is located on Lake City Way. It is convenient, the hours are great, they have lots of equipment, it is clean and you can't beat the price. I am not sure how good the personal training or the group exercise classes are is as I have never taken advantage of those services, but for one who likes to get a workout done, Mieko's is a great place.

What a lunch buffet! I have been to Araya Vegan in the past for dinner and have always found the food to be wonderful, but for the first time, I went for the lunch buffet that I have heard so much about! It was fantastic! There were lots of choices of different kinds of food and different levels of spiciness and everything was fresh and tasty. I went alone and the atmosphere was casual, I wasn't the only one dining alone (I may have been the only one eating and reading Star magazine :).) I imagine this would be a fun place with a friend too!
