Go to Kids on 45th. They do consignment, and sell new kids toys, clothing, and all the baby paraphernalia. The staff is really nice, they keep an account for all of the baby and kid clothes your's have outgrown, and they giftwrap too. I especially like the cotton separates - they are long-sleeved tee shirts and pants that come in many bright colors. I've purchase lots of baby gifts there.

We're never disappointed with Essential Bakery products. We mostly purchase this bread at the grocery store, but there is a bakery in Wallingford that has pastries and sandwiches and cakes as well. I purchased rosemary rolls for Thanksgiving, to rave reviews. I love their olive bread, the Fremont Sour, and the Columbia. Their orange and walnut breads are great, and the rosemary diamonte is killer. Move over, low carbers!

We've taken our dogs to Evelyn Robertson for 19 years, and can't recommend her enough. She is compassionate, competent, and extremely trustworthy. She is the owner of the business, but has several other veterinarians who work there as well. Our dog, Jazz, actually picked her for us, by licking her face! You dog likes her? That was enough for us to say she is our vet, and we've never regretted it. You won't either.

I'm taking about that wonderful, neopolitan pizzeria called Tutta Bella. Now located in Wallingford, their second restaurant, its much easier for us to go. This one is larger than the restaurant in Columbia City, and it is beautiful. My personal favorite is the prochiutto with fresh arugula piled in the center. The pizzas are individual-sized, and thin crusted -- as they should be! There are several delicious salads, which are very large and to share.

This is Sea Thai on 45th in Wallingford. They are pretty good, but not always consistent. You can always tell when mama is cooking, as her dishes are what they're supposed to be. She makes the best Phad Thai, and several of the fish dishes are good. The Thai iced tea, one of my personal, fattening favorites, is top notch!

What a dive lunch place. The name is Bakeman's and it is on Cherry between 1st and 2nd Avenue. They make their own turkey daily, and their own bread. I love the turkey with cranberry, for around $3.00. It's a caffeteria line, and the staff is very abrupt and salty! I love this place.

This is an extravaganza of a nursery experience. I loved it when they were a bit smaller with a resident golden retriever, who greeted all the visitors and waited for pets. There were even puppies at one time. Alas, growth changes everything. Still, they are a wonderful nursery. Everything from seeds to trees, great pots, and a wonderfully-designed garden display which overlooks the Sound. Hard-to-find plants and expert advice. They have a new coffee shop and winding koi pond. I've purchased a bare-root tree, and several shrubs at their fall sale.

this is a wonderful nursery at the north end of seattle on Aurora. Trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, bulk materials (compost, bark, playchips, manure, etc.), pots of every size and shape. They have a very knowledgeable staff who can help you with every plant problem or need. To amuse you and the kiddies, there is a koi pond. It seems almost every weekend, they have other experts giving seminars or classes on everything from ikebana to orchids. An absolute class A nursery. Check it out!

Swanson's is a family-owned and operated business in Wallingford. We trust them with all our shoe issues, from birkenstock resoling, sandal repair and boots to wing-tips! Walking in the store, you feel like you have time-traveled back in history. They have a complete selection of shoe laces, inserts, and you'll be amazed at the turn-around time for your footwear. The prices are very fair.

What a dive! 25 cent pool tables, beer, and recently booze. There is a really cool old mural running the length of the tavern/bar. It has been severly damaged from years of tobacco smoke, so I hope the owners will one day restore it. Inexpensive beer, and a great Wallingford hangout. If they could only fix Ms. Packman...
