This little joint is on that crazy 5-way corner at 80th and Lake City Way. It's directly across Lake City from Diva Espresso and Subway. There is parking in the rear, but for our family it's much more fun to walk there.
So far we have only enjoyed breakfast there, but plan to go back soon to try the lunch and dinner fare. The service was friendly, fast and very accommodating. I requested that one of my eggs be cooked over hard so I could feed it to the baby -- no hesitation, no problem (the other was over medium, cooked perfectly) .
The ambiance is cozy, good music and art in the background.
The food was classic American breakfast fare, but all very excellent. And they have biscuits, my fave. Even the bacon had more meat than fat! We'll go back to this family friendly place - a lot. Hope to see you (and your family) there.
7/05 Update - Went back for dinner and was even more impressed. This is such a special neighborhood secret, it's worth stopping in if you are in the neighborhood.

Service does not get any more personal than this. The proprietress of this small NE cake supply shop has a line out the door of customers waiting for her advice as much as her cake supplies. Home bakers casually congregate at this hole-in-the-wall oasis of cakedom. Anything you need, Griel carries. She takes every last second of time you need to get your order assembled, so plan for a few extra minutes to wander about and peruse the shelves as you wait for your turn. The 2 parking spots out front are hardly enough to manage her following. Even if you don't bake, but you really like cake, this place is worth a visit. It's like taking a trip back to the 60s.

My babysitter, a Seattle native, turned me onto this place. It's a no fuss, no nonsense mani/pedi spot with spa chairs and a cumpulsory lower leg massage. The color selection is sufficient. The service is excellent. They cater to all ages with the same fantastic customer service and a paint job that lasts until your next quickie.

Far better than most of the Aveda concept salons in the city, this beautiful salon/day spa picks up all of the slack that the others can't manage to lift.
The spa facilities are lovely, and include dry fruit and nuts while you wait for your service in the upstairs oasis. If you need any sort of follicular removal, Katie is your gal. She's precise, efficient and talented.
And I have had one cut with Charlie that I would have paid double for. My only complaints about this spot are that they literally greet you as you walk in the door, even though there is a separate front counter. It sort of feels like you are being ambushed and I have found it a little offputting the 6 times I have been in. I like to take my time and look around before I check in for my appointment.
Also, it seems that Aveda is making (my assumption) all of its salons put on the full court press for last minute retail impulse buys. I have been offered chocolate, expensive oils and other salves that I'd rather not be bothered with. These two items cost them their 5th star in this review.

Ballard Pediatrics is a welcoming and pleasant doctor's office for children. It is newly remodeled and has a nice bright feel to it. We haves seen 3 of the docs in the practice - Maliris, Eldred and Del Beccaro. They have drop-in hours from 8-9.30 every weekday morning which makes it easy to be seen if a problem erupts overnight. They are diligent with insurance claims and we never have to wait for an appointment.

6/05 update
Every time I go back to this office, I feel like I'm hanging out a friend's house. It is so much fun, I am looking forward to my next appointment. The staff is just the nicest group of professionals you have ever met. Whether you need a plain old check up or more extensive dental work, you will find no better dental practice anywhere wlse.

So-so wax jobs, a so-so cut and a hideous Mother's Day massage cancellation put this Aveda concept spa at the bottom of this spa-goer's list. Cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice and you'll pay a $40 fee. They cancel on you with less than 4 hours' notice gets you little more than an unenthusiastic sorry. Don't waste your time or more importantly your money on this place.
(6/05 update) I've been banned!! I found out from an inside source that I've allegedly been banned in retaliation for this post from the very place I have so negatively endorsed. The owner, by the way, never once contacted me regarding the cancellation incident. Viva la customer service!
