Leroy Gray has been in the house lifting business for a while, and is one of those old-school contractor guys. I think he is passing the business on to his son Eddie, which seems to affected the quality of service.
I had some clients use him for a job in Fremont/Phinney and were not pleased with the schedule and communication. House lifting is a pretty basic process, done pretty much the same way now as it was 50 or 80 years ago. So really it's about the service and sticking to schedule and estimates.

(the new Stone Way location)
Took my parents to Tutta Bella's new Wallingrford location after having enjoyed the Columbia City one several times. We went later at night, after 9pm, and asked for a "quiet seat" as my father is hard of hearing. They put us in the back, but it was still pretty noisy. Too many hard surfaces and nothing to absorb the sound bouncing around.
The salads are great, nice and big portions, and the pizzas are the Naples style, sparse but quality ingredients and emphasis on the sauce. I like nearly all the ones I've tried, but my folks weren't thrilled (not enough cheese, they said). I think it's a generation gap thing ;-). We all liked the gelato, though.

With the Belltown-ification of Ballard, there aren't many of the more casual places left to grab good food. Even Hatties Hat remodeled the back and added a shark tank (!). But Bad Alberts has a very low-brow, casual Blues-bar ambiance, with basic chairs and tables inside. But their weekend brunch is great, everything I've tried over the years is good - especially the French Toast (Kittycakes) and the crab items. You can even order a "red beer" here - Tomato juice and beer - for those mornings after a rough night. Last time in we met the owner, a very talkative, nice guy pouring coffee for his customers and chatting with everyone. I have only had lunch here once, but can vouch for the breakfast.

I had lunch with a friend that works nearby the other day.. late lunch around 2pm. There was plenty of space inside, almost more staff than customers. The place has great south light, right on the corner, and bar seating and a variety of tables. You can even rent out a loft space for private parties. I ordered the Shepards Pie, just under $10. It was a decent size and tasted great! I've heard the fish n chips ($10.50) is very good also. Service was good, the place is a bit too polished/over the top Irish bar themed for me, but still very clean and good design. I see they occasionally have Irish music too.

After having problems with my Mistubishi that another shop could not diagnose/repair, a friend recommended Lioe's on Beacon Hill. I spoke with Ken there, who seemed very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose some of the problem on the phone.
I had my truck towed there and he was able to look at it within 2 days. He replaced both timing belts and some other work at less cost (parts) than another shop quoted. My truck runs great now.
Their shop labor rate is about the same as anywhere, ~$78/hr, but they were more knowledgeable than other places I've been to and were pleasant to deal with.

The have a green bean dish that is great, and of course the barley green hand shaven noodles.
The menu is extensive and confusing.. every possible permutation of ingredient combo is listed.
There is another good chinese place in Factoria, in a strip mall on the east side of the main drag.. across from the mall. Can't remember the name, my friend conversed with the waitress in chinese and ordered us some tasty food.

Bleu Bistro is a quirky, carmmed, rabbit warren of tables - they have actually taken out a few (the one up the ladder!) from when it first opened. It is dark and intimate, good for at date but not for a group of any size. A somewhat tacky 3 ring binder holds the large and confusing array of drink menu's and lunch and dinner options. Prices seem a bit high, but portions are usually large on the food. The veggie BLT is tasty and tons of food. Sometimes the mix/proportion of food is off, like too much pasta and not enough sauce etc. They are hopefully getting better at this.
For a similar feel, try Chez Gaudy on lower Capitol Hill.
If you are adventuresome and like kitsch, give this place a try, if only for a drink.

I'm not sure if they do heat pumps, but Doug Hamilton and his brother did a great job installing a new gas, forced-air furnace and some ducting in my Ballard house, as well as a gas water heater.
I also used them to install some iron gas line in that house and another.
If you are getting a new furnace, I would pass on the (Honeywell) electrostatic air filter - it adds a few hundred bucks and doesn't really work that well, at least mine doesn't. Save some money and buy a stack of regular filters for your furnace and change them out every 2-6 months.

When I had a mechanical problem, I brought my truck to them and they were unable to diagnose it and unable to remove one of the spark plugs.
I had to take it to another shop (Pacific Rim) and they were able to remove the spark plug that turned out to be bad and causing the problem.
