Macaroni Grill is a good italian chain restaurant, and I think they've gotten better over the years. I love their make-your-own-pasta deal, where you can pick from several different kinds of pasta, sauces, and toppings. It's great! The meal always starts with warm fresh bed and olive oil dipping sauce. You can add a really nice salad for $1.99, and don't forget to order the table wine. You're on the honor system, but it's only a few dollars per glass!

I don't think there's been a single time I haven't had to wait in line for at least 5-10 minutes to order, no matter what time or day. But it's always worth the wait! The chain is owned by McDonald's Corporation, but I think the food is pretty good quality. You can see the staff making the rice and guacamole and grilling the chicken as you order, which is nice. Chipotle has just about the BEST guacamole I've had in a restaurant, lots of chunks of avocado.

I took my then-fiancee to Potowmack Landing for dinner for his birthday last year. The food we had was good--mostly seafood and American favorites--and the view is great. We sat out on the deck and watched the planes land at National Airport and watched boats on the Potomac. We even saw our Congressman, Jim Moran, eating dinner there!

The Hoffman Theatre is huge (about three stories tall) and shows most of the movies you'd want to see (they often do not show the more artsy or limited release movies). They have a pretty decent snack bar and the facilities are clean. There are really only two problems: major overcrowding on the weekends and the parking situation. It is hard to find a parking spot in the lots that surround the building. There is a satellite lot across the street, but it's difficult to get to because of all of the construction on Eisenhower Avenue. Metro is actually a very good choice to get to the theatre.

We recently had to replace a circulator pump in our furnace, and Frosty's did a great job. The technician was very friendly and skilled. He explained everything that he was doing and pointed out things we need to watch out for. And, while it was still expensive, the total bill for parts and labor was on the low end of the price range they quoted us.
We actually had the same technician that came to us a year or so ago to fix another problem, and he remembered us!

The staff is always friendly and they don't mind if you are just in to browse and try on some rings. They can do sizing as well as repairs.

Their spa pedicure prices are also pretty good, at around $25. Instyle has a good assortment of nail polish colors to choose from and a good stock of magazines to read while you get pampered.

When two of the alloy wheels and rims on our car were stolen, we didn't know what to do. We didn't want to pay to replace all four, but we obviously wanted them to match the two that were left. They were Nissan wheels that came with the car, and we couldn't find them anywhere. The car dealership couldn't order them, either. Finally, we found Hubcap Heaven.
Even though the name makes it sound like they only carry hubcaps, they have so much more. You can purchase both new and used wheels and hubcaps, as well as tires. They have pretty reasonable prices, too.

And there is always parking available, either in the lot or on the street. The prices are pretty reasonable, but book early! It's hard to get court time in the evenings after work.

Ever since Paper Source replaced the old Art Store in Georgetown, it's been my favorite place for art and paper supplies, as well as unique gifts and greeting cards.
I got my letterpress save the date cards for my wedding last fall at Paper Source. While letterpress is generally pretty expensive, Paper Source has great prices and excellent service. They were very responsive and my order came in very quickly.
I also purchased all of the supplies for my do-it-yourself wedding programs here, and they turned out great! I came to the store not sure what I wanted to do, and a helpful staff person showed me some options and made sure I had everything I needed.
It's a great place if you know what you need, but it's also great for wandering around and discovering new things to do and make!
