Everything featured in a store for a dollar. Who could possibly dream this up? Somehow it worked out for both consumers and the franchise. And then plan is working well enough that Dollar Tree is able to stay open despite the loss of the Econo Foods that was the parent in it's building.
So why spend more on gift bags, beauty supplies, small tools, books, toys, decorations and candy when you can spend $1? There are many nice items such as picture frames, greeting cards, and gift bags that seem worth more than you pay. Of course, there are plenty of items that aren't even worth $1.
