But the cheap prices online and at the massive bookstores keep drawing me in. Shakespeare is a great little liberal bookstore that carries a wide selection despite its size. The prices however are higher, however the staff is much more knowledgeable. If you don't feel like fighting the crowds this is also a great place to browse at a mellow pace.

Amish is a tiny store but somehow I can always find what I need. I love to shop here for dinner parties because they have the staples (albeit at a sometimes higher price) and delicacies. Their cheese and salami selection is large. The fish doesn't always look the freshest so I've never tried it, but I appreciate that they carry Murray's chicken in a number of different cuts. Also don't miss the sales. Often seasonal fruit is a great buy.

If you're in need of a practical bag for the city, I'd check this place out. Their canvas bags and most of their clothes for that matter come in neutral colors and washable fabrics.

I always love to stick my head into Pookie and Sebastian, and I'm sure that one day I'll find a good deal. They rotate there clothes often, which means that they always have sale stuff to unload (I love my sales!). I'm not totally sure but it seems to me that they carry knock off or low end designer brands (excuse my fashion ignorance), because they always have the latest fads at reasonable prices.

The designers they stock are generally nothing new and all available at the department stores or Loehman's and for lower prices. Even supposed sales are not that much of a deal, in my opinion.

I've had the fortune to receive a number of gift certificates to Oasis so I've been quite a few times. I like the Park Ave location better than Union Square because it is roomier and the building has a better vibe. The Swedish and Lava Stone massages were amazing...but never long enough. Had my first facial ever here and could have done without it. It may have been because they were having a special on facials that month (oh yeah..must sign up on their web site for the monthly deals), and the women was overworked but she really rushed through the whole thing. Overall though a wonderful experience.

We both ordered seafood asopaos or gumbos and found them lacking in flavor. They give you a ton of food for the money, and the seafood was fresh, but the lack of atmosphere and flavor were a real turn off.

I'm determined to get it right here, even if I have to go back 100 times. This is by far the biggest menu I've seen with variations of pretty much the same thing: hamburger and chicken sandwich. You can get them blackened, Thai, Italian, Mexican and many more ways. I ate here once and had a great tasting chicken sandwich; well cooked and very flavorful, but picked the wrong bread so ended up eating it fork and knife style. Prices are very reasonable but be warned they don't take cash and they don't have fries, which can be disappointing if you're looking for a greasefest. This is a better place to find a quick, fairly healthy, and filling meal.

I'm not sure if this is the norm, but a group of friends and I went here for dinner the other week and didn't have the best experience. We were a large group and so they sat us way in the back of the first floor by the kitchen/waterfall. The biggest annoyance is that in that area the lights change colors every 10 seconds and the colors are really not flattering at all!! One minute you feel like you're in the fluorescent light bathroom of a truck stop, the next like you're in a morgue. The food was decent but not spectacular enough to distract us from our psychedelic surroundings.

One of my favorite local pizzas because they make a thin and crispy crust, which I love! Ingredients are fresh, and they have an excellent Sicilian salad. Delivery was quick and easy and if you live in the area they often send coupons out in the mail. Can't beat it for a busy weekday meal.
