I'd probably like anywhere named after Jean Renoir's masterpiece! This is a good movie theatre that sometimes runs older foreign films that don't have much of a chance of running at most other theatres. It's a nice place to see movies and there's a little cafe with good food inside too, so you don't have to eat bad popcorn and overpriced candy like at the megaplex...

Since I never go to arena-type huge shows, The Showbox is about the upper limit in terms of crowd size of places I go to see concerts. It's great for bands at the level of Sonic Youth - much better than huge arena shows, although it's not my favorite for bands that sound better if you can catch them in smaller venues. For really loud shows I recommend standing back where you're not bombarded by the speakers so you can hear a little more clearly.

I like this Chinese restaurant in the University District for the "lunches" they serve (which can be ordered any time of the day) - they come with soup (their hot & sour soup is good) and an egg roll plus rice (steamed or fried). They have some good dishes and the prices aren't bad at all.

Ace has a location near the top of Queen Anne Hill right along Queen Anne Avenue, and it's not too big, but they have a good general selection of hardware and supplies. They've been helpful and nice when I went in, too, and let me exchange something I bought that I ended up not needing or using.

This is a pretty good place to look for used clothes in the University District, and you can also sell your old clothes here for trade or store credit. They won't take everything you bring in, but you can donate what you don't want to a theatre group or something. The prices are sometimes a little high, but they have a pretty good selection.

This is a pretty good little thrift store in Seattle, although I was a little disappointed that they decided to completely take out their book section and stop selling any books a little while back. Now the focus seems to be on used clothes, although they do still have some old records and a few CDs.

I have tried the DSL connection from Seattle Comcast to use the Internet while housesitting at someone's house, and I definitely noticed that it was faster than the dial-up service I've used before. It seemed like a pretty good deal, although one thing I noticed was that I really only noticed the improvement when i was downloading big files.

Cellophane Square is still a great place to shop for used CDs and records, although I don't understand why they don't offer more money in trade/credit than for cash when you bring stuff in now; also they don't have their original guaranteed buy-back of 80% of original price anymore... but they still have the same good selection.

Judging Taste of India against my favorite Indian buffets in the Seattle area it may not hold up, but comparing it just to other restaurants in the Spokane area it's pretty great. Their buffet has plenty of tasty food including good naan bread and raita (cucumber & yogurt) - if you're in Spokane at lunch hour you won't find many other places as good.

During the time I lived in Ellensburg I never actually ate at Panda Garden, but I've eaten their a couple times since, usually when I'm just passing through town, and it's good. It's not spectacular, but I've never been disappointed either - I would definitely say that it's above-average for a Chinese restaurant in a small town in America.
