I liked the food at a Thai Tom when I ate there, although it had been built up to me to be the best Thai restaurant ever, and I didn't necessarily think it was THAT great... a couple things there really were great, like one dish that had a lot of bean sprouts, but some of the other dishes tasted like normal good Thai food to me.

Although I've only been here a few times, it seemed like a pretty good place to see a show. Usually it's sort of a mid-sized venue with a fairly sizable area in front of the stage, but occasionally (like when I saw Hood play there) they only open the small half, so you see the band play in a very small area at the top of the stairs...

The Cafe Campagne is a wonderful French cafe located in downtown Seattle near the Pike Place Market. The food is great - the salad I had before they served the main course was just about the best I can ever remember having! Of course the prices aren't cheap, but once you've had the food you wouldn't expect them to be.

The Teacup, right on Queen Anne Avenue near the top of Queen Anne Hill, has a wonderful selection of high-quality teas. It's been a little while since I've been in, but if I remember right you can buy bulk tea leaves or order a cup of tea to drink there. They also host tea tastings.

The first time I came to the Pike Place Market Creamery it was because I had heard in one of the local weeklies that they were hosting a butter tasting - for a small fee you could come in and try different types of butter from around the world. There was quite a bit of variation, and the quality all seemed really high. This is a good place to come for high-quality dairy products.

I like this place, although I am a little disappointed that they changed their menu a while ago. My favorite thing to order here was the yak cheese soup, but they don't seem to have it anymore. (For a while I could order it even after it left the menu.) The potato naan is great here, and if you come at the right time you can order a homemade rice wine/beer similar to Tibetan chang! If they still had the yak cheese soup I would give them 5 stars for sure!

City Cellars, located right next to Bottleworks (a great beer store) on 45th in Wallingford, is a wine store with a great selection of wines. For super-cheap wines (like I often buy) you're better off going to Trader Joes, but for good-quality wine this is the place to come. They also host wine tastings about every week.

Besides showing great films (this year they've already screened the newest Godard film and a whole festival of Ozu films), the NW Film Forum occasionally hosts other events with live music by great bands like the Climax Golden Twins and Mt Eerie, and they often have interesting art in the front lobby area.

The way the Crocodile Cafe is set up there's an inner area with a stage for live music shows that happen pretty much every night, and outside that is a cafe area. Once nice secret is that if you feel like just listening in on a concert without paying for it, you can grab a table just outside the stage area and hear pretty well what they're playing. Most of the time I go inside, though, and over the years I've seen a lot of great shows here.
