This is a little Chinese (or I think more accurately Taiwanese) food store in the International District. They of course don't have the selection of Uwajimaya, but it'w worth checking out for Chinese groceries. One of my favorite things here that I can't find anywhere else are cookies with a green tea filling.

This isn't a bad thrift store located a little up from Pioneer Square getting closer to the Intl District. My main complaint is that they never seem to be open any time I come by - I think they're only open about 20 hrs a week, so if you're planning on stopping, make sure to check the times in advance...

This is a little thrift store located on 45th St in Wallingford, and it's not bad. They always have a pretty good selection of kitchen items, a few books and records, and some clothes, although usually not too much else. Sometimes they've had sales with good t-shirts for $1 each and things like that. It's probably not worth your time to make a special trip to the area to go here, but it's worth a stop if you're passing by some time.

I like to stop by here when I want to get a snack or light meal in the University District without spending much money. The veggie tostadas are what I usually get, since they only cost a little over 2 dollars (and come with good sour cream and salsa), but they also have good specials for a little more. They also have good Mexican drinks like horchata, tamarindo, etc.

This is a nice little Tibetan shop in the University District. They have good quality things, such as nice incense, Tibetan art items, and clothing. There are some interesting clothing items that I would have bought if they had fit a little better or been cheaper, but I'm sure they'd be great for the right person.

Shiga's is a little shop with Japanese and other Asian things. It's pretty good for a few things, but not too much of it is high-quality or contemporary. It's pretty good for some kitchen items like chopsticks (they even have some made from mulberry bark), and I've been happy with the goza reed mats that I got here as a sort of cheap alternative to tatami.

Since I don't have a garden area and I don't usually have houseplants I don't often go to nurseries, but I was really impressed by this one when I came recently. I ended up buying a small balsam fir that I am very excited to put in my room - I had no idea that you could find such a nice little tree for such a good price (it was $15, and I had a 1/2-off coupon). They have a wide variety of other trees, plants, supplies, etc, as well.

I've only been to the Vera Project once, but I was very impressed with it. If it had been around before I was 21 I'm sure I would have gone more often. It's nice that somewhere is trying to put on good all-ages shows in Seattle! They did a great job putting on the show I saw by The Evens.

Overall Chop Suey is a pretty good place to see a concert. My only real complaint is that in a couple shows I've been to there was a lot of noise from the bar area at the back that made it hard to concentrate on the music (plus when I saw a great show by Monade here, there was some kind of radio sound coming through the main speakers and they weren't very responsive about figuring out what the problem was...)
