I stopped in here because of the Ukrainian foodstore which is next door (or actually sort of located in one corner of this store), but it seemed pretty good too. They had a nice little selection of produce with reasonable prices and a few Asian groceries (good for the area, but nothing to compare with the Int'l District); I ended up buying a pack of Turkish/Arabic coffee flavored with cardamom to boil in my ibrik.

Despite the name, "#1 Thai" seems to me to be more of a Vietnamese restaurant than a Thai one, but they do have some Thai food, and at any rate the food is pretty good. They always have some featured lunch specials that are cheap, too - usually some kind of curry, and a Vietnamese sandwich.

Down Low Music, located just around the corner from the Coffee Messiah cafe, seems to be a nice record shop, but there taste is a little too DJ-oriented for me to make the trip to the shop very often. I have to really dig through the crates to find the kind of thing I'm looking for,but if you like DJ-type dance music this might be a great place to look for records.

This cafe is a really nice place to drink tea. They have a nice selection of teas, very high quality, and they seem to be pretty knowledgeable about them too. It's not like the other places that serve you green tea from a tea bag, steeped in boiling water for five minutes... They pay attention to the correct water temperature and steeping time which is a welcome change.

This is a nice cafe, and one of my favorite things about it was that they used to have little concerts here with no cover, just a one-drink minimum. There's not much room in here for shows, so it gave them more of an initimate feeling. Either they're not doing that much anymore, though, or I'm just not hearing about it.

I think this is the only place in Seattle where I've had to use the little Mandarin that I still remember out of necessity - it's one of the few restaurants outside China that I've ever been to that really reminded me of eating in mainland China. I felt kind of like I was in a little restaurant in Shanghai. the food was good and although we went there too late to order a hot pot, I hear that's what they make best.

Crossroads, is a used clothing shop on Broadway, that is fairly picky about what they will sell (they like contemporary fashions), and accordingly their prices are a little higher than most used clothes shops. It's a little hard to sell clothes to them, too, since they won't take most things that get brought in, but they do have good quality stuff.

the Bad Juju is a bar, and I have to admit that I don't remember very much about their drinks, but I do highly recommend them as a place to buy tickets for shows at Neumos in person. If you're like me and "convenience charges" for ticket sales make you seriously consider forgetting about buying a ticket sometimes, try out the Bad Juju in advance of a good show at Neumos, and try out one of their drinks too.

I think I've only eaten at Beso Del Sol once, and I remember that it was good food, but it didn't make a strong impression on me. Wthat I remember mostly is the crowds of people who come here for the dancing, and I also remember from the next time I came in that they made a pretty good margarita.

The Mix is a nice ice cream shop on the Ave in the U District. If I remember right they didn't have a huge selection of ice cream flavors, but the quality was good. The main feature is the things you can choose from to mix into your ice cream. It's a nice place to stop in for some ice cream on a hot day.
