We visited tons of jewelry stores when shopping for wedding rings, and had experiences with many salespeople who didn't seem to know anything about jewelry. Alan Turner's, in downtown Edmonds, is a family-owned store run by Mrs. Turner and her son. From our experience, they seem to have quality merchandise that they stand behind, even when there are problems (it took us awhile to get the sizing right and we were unhappy with the independent engraving service they use - they made everything right with both situations.

ABCs of Dancing is the private business of an instructor in a Lake City Dance Studio. She gives private dance instruction for special occassions. We went to her to learn a first dance for our wedding. We brought in a CD of our song, and within a few minutes, she had choreographed a dance for us. As we learned the steps, she would modify them and add more complexity as we were ready for it. We had 2 private dance lessons for our first dance and everything went great.

The aptly named, Dahl playfield, consists mostly of grassy fields. A pleasant place to walk a dog, run a kid, or watch a intramural game, amenities also include a restroom and basketball courts.
Dahl playfield also has a fairly good size wading pool for the kiddies. If you're looking for a less-crowded place to splash, this may be the place. A recent visit on a sunny day found 0 - 1 waders in the pool. Also, much of the pool is shaded. Although it does also have a play area, there is not much here. 2 baby swings, 2 regular swings, a small plastic slide, a sand box, merry-go-round and a couple bouncy horses - no climbing equipment.

Dave's burgers is a tiny shop located in the parking lot of a Lynnwood strip mall (think espresso shack). One can choose from many types of sandwiches and hamburgers as well as french fries, etc. I thought the hamburgers were ok - nothing special and not as good as most other local burger places. The fries were pretty tasteless. They definately needed the ketchup, for which we paid an extra $.05

A local hamburger chain found in standalone locations and in some mall food courts, Kidd Valley focuses on the hamburger stand essentials - burgers, fries, onion rings, shakes. The onion rings are filled with real rings of onion, not chopped pieces. Shakes come in myriad flavors, and you can combine them to make your own creation. I've had excellent service at the Bothell location. A few of the stand-alone restaraunts offer drive-thrus. Beware, the wait will be longer than you're used to for a drive through, as all of their food is made fresh to order.

Unlike many bridal shops, you can try on the wedding dresses without a store "helper" in the room with you. There is no sales pressure, and you are free to come back and try on a dress as many times as necessary to reach a decision. There are a large number of dresses available to try on (but only in one size - usually a fairly small one), as well as wedding accessories. For those who crave princess treatment, it might disappoint, but for those of us to prefer a lower-key, more private experience, it's a welcome relief.

This small eatery a block away from Greenlake offers teriyaki boneless chicken breast, half chicken with bone, beef and/or pork. Each option is served with a very generous portion of rice and a "salad" of pickled cabbage. The thing that sets this Yasukos apart is the sauce. Whether on the beef or the half chicken (have never tried the pork), the sauce lends a slightly sweet flavor that complements the meat and the rice wonderfully. Pay the extra $.25 for an extra cup full.

Nasai offers a handful of tables to dine in, but most of their business is take-out orders. There are the usual teriyaki and yakisoba offerings (choice of meat or vegetarian) as well as gyozas. The portion sizes are quite generous. I particularly like the veggie yakisoba although it does tend to be a little wet.
