Metro is a great place to study late at night. The espresso bar gets somewhat crowded during midterms and finals but not terribly so. Their drinks are good and not too expensive. This is a fixture on the Drag which gives UT the easy going unique feel that it has. A must visit for a late night caffeine fix.

The food at Carrabba's is always excellent. The service is somewhat spotty and can be good or bad. The atmosphere is my only true complaint about the restaurant. Their music within the restaurant is so loud that conversation is almost impossible, and the entire restaurant is very dark. Overall a visit is worth it for their wonderful menu items, especially the lasagna and pasta weesie but don't expect a great atmosphere.

Z Tejas is a wonderful place to go and relax and just soak up the atmosphere. Their food is wonderful and I think the best southwestern style cooking in town. The service is always top notch and the view is wonderful as well. They are a bit pricey but well worth it, especially for a great date or other special night.

Doc’s Motor Works has simple good food. There is nothing fancy here but the food is excellent. From the outside looking in, it is just another bar and grill, however once you get within the restaurant and especially outside on the patio you know you’re in a place that values its customers. I absolutely love their queso and onion rings. Truly an Austin original and must visit.

Wheatsville Co-Op is a great small town feel grocery store for organic merchandise. They have a more small town and friendly feel than some of the other places in town and have a wonderful selection of fresh organic food. Wheatsville's prices are very reasonable and very much in line with those of other organic food stores in town. A must visit for great selection.

Savers always has a huge variety of great items. There is a small amount of worn out stuff you would never buy, but there is even more either brand new or very barely used stuff at wonderful prices. I have been able to find wonderful tops and jeans there as well as items for the house at very reasonable prices. Savers is a must if you're looking for something specific which is hard to find.

The breakfast tacos at Taco Xpress are the best in town. The atmosphere is definately unusual but the tacos are so worth it. The restaurant itself is small and parking is very limited so plan to wait a bit. The tacos are somewhat small so you'll need at least two, but the prices are so good that's not a problem. A great breaksfast spot which is very representative of south Austin.

Mother's is the best vegetarian restaurant in Austin. Their enchiladas are good but the lasagna is awesome! Their desserts really aren't all that great. The service is spotty, occasionally you'll get a really attentive waitress, although you're ususally just somewhat ignored... They often have live music which usually consists of some guy playing the guitar or harp. They have some good things and some not so good menu items.
