We come here every year in early fall to pick up some apples. The apples they sell are fresh from the orchard and taste so good. They have seconds and windfalls in crates in the front for you to pick at a discount. These are great for making applesauce. They also have a bakery that makes wonderful apple pizza.

I love stopping by this orchard during the summer. It's like having a daily fresh fruit market available to you. Each day, the owners place the available fruits and vegetables for the day on tables in the front yard and you can stop by before or after work to pick some up. Payment is on the honor system. They have tomatoes, peaches, apples, potatoes and melons.

They came out and planted them for us and we had a problem with one tree. They came out to inspect it and replaced it for free...with a bigger tree.

They have slot machines on all three floors ranging from penny to $10. They also have table games like blackjack, poker and craps. There is an awful lot of smoke on the boat though so be prepared to leave smelling like you just smoked a few packs.

During the summers, they sell boxes of sausage, brats and hot dogs (some even pre-cooked) really cheap. This place is a must to check out if you're having a summer picnic or any special dinner.

This is a great way to spend a weekend or just a Saturday or Sunday during the summer months. This place is located on the banks of the Maquoketa River and lets you rent canoes for trips down the river. The scenery is gorgeous and the canoe rentals aren’t at all expensive. There are lots of places to come ashore when you’re canoeing and have a nice picnic lunch.

This newspaper is a mix between actual news and gossip/trash news. Although journalism is supposed to be unbiased, this newspaper definitely gives biased views of events and news happening in the area. There have also been times where the need to report the news has taken precedence over people's privacy rights. The one nice thing about this paper is that they have very good photojournalists ff that capture excellent pictures to go with the stories.
