This is a great place to shop! We are on a very tight budget, so we have really learned to watch for sales, cut corners, and find stores that have the best items at the lowest prices.
Its been a few years since I had gone into a Save a Lot store, but we needed some food in the house, so since it wasnt that far away, we decided to stop in.
All I can say, is that they never cease to amaze me at their great prices, great merchandise, and great clerks. Very clean, very professional. The shelves are well stocked, as are their fruit/veggie bins, and freezer units.
I can easily feed my family of 4 on less than $100 per month shopping at Savealot and at the 99cent stores. The meat is better than some of the bigger chain stores around here...and definitely cheaper!
All I can say is that I guess I will be doing a little more shopping there and less shopping at the bigger chains!

This past weekend, September 9th, a charity car show was held at Valley Center, Bates' Nut Farm, to be precise.
The Mark Metz Memorial Car Show proved to be an outright success...well over 400 cars showed up, even a helicopter dropped in to see what was going on. The guy said that he saw all these great cars and decided to drop in!
We had a wonderful turn out, the weather was great, the band was a success! It was non stop action from the opening of the gate at 6am till we closed up shop at nearly 8 pm!!
We had a pancake breakfast put on by the Lions Club, and a barbque at lunch.
We had a fabulous auction, with lots of great prizes. But the best prize of all was the car they were auctioning off. $10 bought you a ticket and one chance at winning this fire engine red 1964 Mercury Cyclone.
Over $30,000 was raised at this event...all in ticket sales.
Anyone that may have gone, I thank you for your participation in this year's event!

We had been busy working the Run to the Hills car show this past weekend, so we were all tired, too tired to worry about cooking dinner. We decided to stop at Burger King on the way home.
We had made a large order, as we usually do, so we made sure they read every item back to us. Making sure nothing was left out or taken incorrectly. The attendant read everything back and had the order correctly...no problem, right? Wrong.
Well we got our order alright...all seemed to be just fine, till we got it home and started separating the food out for everyone. That's when we realized the order was not correct at all.
First off the food was barely heated. We had ordered two orders of 12 piece chicken fries, we got two orders, but the orders we received were for a 6 piece and a 9 piece. No sauce was offered or provided.
They also did not provide sauce for my sons nuggets, and they even gyped him on the amount of nuggets he was supposed to receive...and they were told to replace the fries with applesauce, and they neglected to do that as well.
We called the management that night and they neglected to rectify the matter, nor did they even offer to. Needless to say, they will be losing a lot of business.

Well folks, if you live in the San Diego area and had the opportunity to attend the Run to the Hills Car Show, held at Barona Casino on Saturday, August 19th, you will know what a roaring success the show was!...
We ended up with over 300 cars, both classic and later models, lots of Harleys, antique bikes, cars rebuilt from the ground up by our local high school kids, vendors from all corners of San Diego County...and then there was the public...what a turn out!!!
We had just under 200 pre registerants and all together, and the people kept coming...by the busloads, carloads, and bikeloads!
Participant cars and bikes filled the parking lot to capacity and then some...they just kept coming...right up till closing time!
We had over 500 raffle prizes worth over $15,000!!
And we had a $450 50/50 prize...it was great! We havent got a final tally yet as to how much money we raised for our charity...Mountain Empire Men's Club. This charity provides scholarships for the underpriveledged children of the Mountain Empire School District.

Our truck needed an oil change, and being we can't change it in our parking lot (since the rules stipulate no auto maintenance is to be done in our apartment complex), we figured we would take it to the Auto Care shop at Walmart.
So my little boy and I went in and started shopping while daddy took the truck into the shop. Daddy joined us not long after, saying they would call us on the intercom when the truck was ready.
About an hour later, our name came across the intercom and my bf went back to claim our truck.
My bf was very happy at how knowledgeable and courteous the car care staff were. Well that happiness was about to turn sour, real fast. A couple of days later, we went about cleaning up the truck, and noticed a small puddle of oil under it.
My boyfriend went in and made a call to Walmart, stating that we had just gotten an oil change there, and now we have an oil leak, which we did not have prior to going in to Walmart. The person (supposedly a manager) refused to do anything about it. Didnt want to hear it, claimed they had no knowledge of it, and there was nothing they could do. They could fix the leak but it would cost an arm and a leg to do so. They blamed us, not the neglegence of their own staff.
So, needless to say, we will never use another auto care area of ANY Walmart.

I've been a big fixture at a lot of Walmart stores ever since I moved to Southern California back in 2000. What can I say, Walmart itself is a great place to find the best deals without breaking the bank. Friendly, courteous, always willing to help, etc.
All of this is well and good, and the reason I keep coming back. But on a more solemn note, I have a bad review of a portion of Walmart that I dont visit very often.
Here's the scenario:
We knew we needed to buy some tires, so we looked online. Found that Walmart advertised tires for as little as $37.00...and that they were in stock at all stores. We were overjoyed!
So we packed up the family and headed out to theWalmart nearest to us. (mind you this was at 10:00am) My son and I proceeded to go into the regular shopping area of Walmart, whilst my bf went into the auto care area to have them put on 4 new tires.
Well, my bf finally caught up with us nearly 20 minutes later, and told us that it was going to take us 2-3 hours!! If that wasnt bad enough, the guy running the auto shop told my bf that they didnt have the tires at that price (even tho the online ad clearly said they did), the only tire they had was over $60 dollars!!!! Thats nearly double what the online ad claimed. My bf told him to just put on one tire then (since we had one tire that kept going flat for no apparent reason). The auto care guy wasnt too pleased, saying that we had told him we needed 4 tires...my bf told him that if they had honoured the online ad, we would have gotten 4 tires, but not at nearly $70 dollars a pop. On the way out of auto care, my bf noticed that they actually did have a lower priced tire ($45) sitting at the exit to the auto care area, but that tire was not offered to him. Well needless to say I was upset, but figured there must be a huge line or something. So we proceeded to go shopping.
We had lunch there while we waited, and then my bf decided it had been nearly that long so he went back to check on the car.
My bf saw our car sitting there (mind you this is 3 hours later, now nearly 1pm), so figuring it was done, he ushered us up to the check out aisle for us to check out while he went back to the auto care shop to pick up the car. We waited outside for him to drive around and pick us up.
We knew something was wrong when nearly 20 minutes went by and we didnt see him. Finally we hear him yelling at us from the parking lot...so we go down the parking lot to unload...well, my bf was livid.
The guy told him there was 3 cars in front of us, that still had not been done!! My bf used to work for the auto section of Kmart, balancing tires and such, he knows how long it takes. Needless to say, he blew up at the guy and basically told him where he could get off. Apparently they were taking people who werent even in line at all, because the three cars ahead of us, were the same three cars that were ahead of us when we first got in line...
So, suffice it to say we will never go to another Walmart Auto Care again...and this is not the first encounter we have had...but thats another review!

I couldnt resist reviewing my family's favourite place to go for dinner on any given Friday night.
Tyler's Taste of Texas is the very best place to go for dinner on Friday nights...and why are they so special on that night, you might ask?
Friday night is the one night of the week that they serve all you can eat, Texas style fried catfish! And I dont mean little pieces, you get whole filets, coated in a cornmeal crust and fried till golden and crisp. As much as you can possibly eat. Served with the best tasting tartar sauce, cole slaw, pickle, hush puppies, biscuit, and soup or salad.
And let me tell ya, they have the best tasting clam chowder, not the fishy smelling stuff you get in so many restaurants, but nice, rich, stick to your ribs kinda clam chowder.
The service is outstanding, the waitresses are some of the sweetest people around, very helpful and very attentive. Our cups didnt remain empty for long before they were coming around filling them up to the top again...several times thru the meal.
And you didnt have to wait long for the next go round of fish and hushpuppies!
Just like homemade without having to do it all yourself!
If you are in El Cajon, I'd highly recommend you to check out Tylers. And if you are not into catfish, they have plenty of other great meals. And even great meals for the little ones!

I know there are a lot of people on here, not sure how many are exactly in this area. But I felt obligated to do a review of these great people!
Ive been involved with a lot of recycle centers over the years, but never before have I found such a great group of individuals. They are knowledgeable, extremely friendly, helpful, willing to lend a helping hand, give you the best deals on your recycling.
I have sent a lot of business in their direction, because I respect them and enjoy doing business with them.
The name of the group is Nexcycle. The big boss is Kevin Tippet. And his attendants are Robert and Terri Sparks. I have to admit, this is one class act, folks.
They used to be located in Lakeside, but due to the new management of the store, whos lot they occupied didnt want them there any longer...they were forced to move. We were real sad to see them go, but thankfully by some fluke when my boyfriend was over in El Cajon, he happened to find them once again, located in the parking lot of Vons at Broadway and Second.
Anyone interested in recycling should stop in and pay them a visit, you will not be disappointed!
