I've been to Innovations several times and I brought my mother there once as a present. I've only been to Innovations so many times because my job kept giving me gift certificates around the holidays, so I usually would use them on hair services at Innovations. The first time I went, I was greeted by snobby cashiers - which seems to be a growing trend at most salons these days, unfortunately. The girl that cut my hair was fresh out of school and my hair sucked when she was finished. I left crying. The second time I went, again armed with another gift certificate or I wouldn't have returned, I was greeted with the snobby cashiers again and had to wait 25 minutes for my stylist. She did my hair, and it looked nice, but after I washed it and looked at the cut, I was shocked at how uneven and bad the cut was overall. My friend, who is a master stylist, had to slap me on the hand and make me vow to not return to Innovations. Now, when my job gives me gift certificates to Innovations, I'll try their day spa side because I'm not too pleased with their salon at all.

Tout Le Monde, meaning something in French, is a French-antique repro-English country-traditional style nice little boutique in downtown Nashua. They offer decorating services, too. The owner has a good eye for decorating and will come to your home for a fee. They have furniture, rugs, accessories for the home, upholstery fabric, etc. The store is large (for the downtown area) and has a nice selection no matter what style you tend to lean towards. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to smelly candles and the shop is overwhelmingly strong - scented candles everywhere. I go in, get a headache, and have to leave. However, the store is very cute and the cashier is always nice. The owner is sometimes there and when she is, she is often very busy but will help you if you need it. The website is nice, it features products that they offer in the store. All in all, I like Tout Le Monde and what it does to the downtown Nashua shopping area. It adds some French flair and some class to Main Street and I wish them much success, growth, and many good years in the downtown area!

Martha's Exchange... you know, I just don't know what to make of this place. They sell fine chocolates, they sell beer, they turn into a nightclub on the weekends, have outdoor seating in the warmer months, and feature hot and cold sandwiches, salads, etc. for Lunch and Dinner. It seems Martha's is trying to cater to every person in Nashua - but are they a success? First, let's start with their service. Hostess is always smug, no matter which one you get. They act like they are seating you in NYC restaurant instead of a Nashua home grown pub that looks a little like an Applebee's inside. The food, it's good. The sandwiches are very good. The drinks are good. The chocolate stand still confuses me as to why it's there. The bathrooms are clean. The food seems to be fresh and clean. Lunch time music is turned up pretty loudly though - they need to turn it down so people can talk to eachother. However, Martha's Exchange does work because it's a little of everything and it seems to have a following. It doesn't appeal to me personally, but I have friends that enjoy visiting there and I certainly wouldn't oppose going again myself. So, there! That's what I have to say about Martha's Exchange - a Three Star Review!

When I was in the card making rubber stamp phase of my life, my friend told me all about this neat little store in Manchester called, Inkerbelles. The name sounded so cute, I wanted to check it out for myself. It's the cutest little shop! They have almost everything you'll need to create cool cards, scrapbooks, and any other crafty thing you can make with glitter, ink, and rubber stamps! The store was laid out a little chaotic, and the cashier's desk was a big pile of everything - the cashier and a customer were working on putting together invitations and stuff was all over the place. I didn't like how they were so into their project that they failed to even acknowledge when I arrived. After about 15 minutes in the store, I asked them what they were doing as a way to break into conversation because I was new at that time to card making and had many questions. Well, my attempt at friendly banter didn't lead to anything other than, "We're making cards, do you need something?". It was like I was in middle school all over again and the cheerleaders were in the gym doing their routine and I walked in to grab something I had left on the bleechers during gym class and the blank stares and head mean girl said, "We're doing our routine, need something?" It was that same feeling, like I wasn't part of the card making club. No, I didn't need therapy afterwards, but gosh, it was enough to keep me away from the store. Since, I've never gone back. I found Michael's to suffice. However, Inkerbelles was cute, and I may have just caught them at a bad time - so I don't want to discredit them totally. I give credit to any small crafting business up against the Michael's and Target's of the world. However, to win, these places must focus on providing exceptional customer service or else they'll lose thier customers to the large corporate chains. I'd rather be treated smugly at a chain store and pay $.99 for some embellishments then to be treated smugly at Inkerbelles or any other small shop and pay $3.99 for the same item.

You You Japanese Bistro is delicious. Located directly off exit 6 near H&R Block, this bistro downright rocks. The atmosphere is relaxed and dim, the decor is modern and classy, service is very efficient and polite, and the food - from the sushi to the pad thai and the eel over rice - all are amazingly fresh and taste great. For the "Japanese food virgins" out there, don't worry - they serve delicious grilled meats like steak and chicken with wonderful sides that you'll enjoy. For those of us that love Japanese food, finding a place this good in the middle of nowhere land (aka Nashua) is a real treat. You You also has a take out service, however they don't have their menu online, they don't even appear to have a website, and they don't run their menus in the local phonebook so it's a real pain to order over the phone if you don't have their menu. Best bet, just drive over there and grab some menus and keep them in your menu file at home for the next time you order take-out. Dinners start at around $10, but most are in the high teens and even into the 20's. However, they do have sushi, soups, appetizers, and other cheaper options should you be on a budget and just want something small. They have a separate bar area too, if you want a cocktail - or you can order from the bar in the dining area. (They have great wine, by the way.) I didn't notice much of a dessert menu, although I was too full to bother eating anything else anyway. If you're a dessert person, you may want to call in advance to ask about their selections. You You will really like this place, so check it out!

I have been going to Roller Kingdom for 17 years. Since I was just a little brat, I guess you could say. At the time, we lived in Boston and would go in car loads to Tyngsboro on Sunday nights to roller skate with all our friends - about 30 of us total from Boston and Lowell. It was the only decent place to skate at the time. Over the years, however, the rink condition has made it very unsafe and scary to skate there. Last time I went was about a year ago; they had orange cones where the huge cracks were on the floor. The floor was a complete mess - uneven, cracks, even some small dings and dents. I fell several times due to this. It was very uncomfortable skating there and it made me sad because I really love skating! Roller Kingdom has so much potential - it's still "lost in time" as far as decor goes - it's still 1980 in there - but it's fun and I actually prefer it to stay that way because it adds to the charm and appeal to me. When I'm there, I feel 16 again because the atmosphere looks exactly the same. The only thing that is different is the music and the damaged floor. Roller Kingdom, if you read this review, please resurface your floor and post that information on your website when it's done because I'm sure many people stay away due to the poor skating conditions. Other than that, roll on!

Christopher's subs are good, but the pizza is horrible. The even less attractive part is the staff of high school students that work there. I went in one evening to pick up a few subs and they were laughing and throwing pepperoni at eachother. One of the kids sneezed into his hand and then grabbed a deli roll for my sandwich. I quickly told him to cancel my order, and I walked out disgusted. Christopher's clearly needs to ramp up thier business if they are to maintain a positive image in Hollis. They need to hire a more mature and helpful staff, and they need to make better pizza because it's slowly getting grosser and grosser. Save yourself a trip, don't go to Christopher's. Try Monument Square Market for great pizzas and CLEAN and MATURE service.

Do you love to sew? Try quilting! It's a fun hobby and most of all, it's fun to shop for the fabrics and take the fun classes that Quiltopia has to offer. The owner is a nice lady that runs her little business with class and style. She is professional and polite. The class I took was fun - we learned how to make a handbag out of quilting squares. They offer GREAT fabrics and fat quarters, along with supplies like cutting boards, patterns, and cutters. Located in a quaint little shopping village that is nearly dead, you'll never fight for a parking spot! This is a nice, stress-free way to shop and to learn - try Quiltopia!

We stayed here for 12 nights during the summer and although the room was nice, it felt a little dirty and dismal, had a dark feeling to it, but it was okay. We were out running around in the city most of the time, so we didn't care as much as someone who may be spending more time in the room. Our room was tiny, but the bathroom was clean with marble floors which I liked because a clean bathroom is important to me. The toilet kept overflowing, which was gross, and they refused to move us to another room, so for 12 nights, we endured that. Another negative was when the front desk overcharged us and when confronted, pretended to be "dumb" and act like we were at fault. They were so nasty about it, but my husband being the way he is, stuffed the bill into their faces and forced them to pay up and they did. The "manager" had to get involved in the end - although I don't know how much management this place has. Breakfast was free, but was only a crossiant and juice everyday for 10 days, nothing else. Lobby had free internet access on their one PC, which I appreciated. Rooms were very quiet and filled with antiques which I also appreciated since I like something a little different from the norm.
The neighboorhood wasn't so great, 4 blocks south and one block over the tenderloin district, an area loaded with junkies and sly looking people. I wouldn't walk around there at night unless you go in pairs. I didn't dislike the hotel, the room rate was under $100 and for San Francisco, this is unbeatable.

We were in San Diego in May 2005 and while in the Gaslamp District, we spotted the Mister Tiki Mai Tai Lounge and had the best time ever! It was awesome. Even on a busy night, we instantly seated. The atmosphere was very "Posh Polynesian" if you can picture that. We ordered amazing calamari with this delicious sauce and the drinks were strong, fruity, and really hit the spot! It's a great place to go on a date or meet friends to chill and not feel rushed. Everyone was dressed to impress (it's CALIFORNIA, what do you expect) but it wasn't smug at all. Our waitress was very talkative and friendly - something that I really enjoyed all around in San Diego - people were so friendly in that city! So, if you ever find yourself in San Diego, and you're craving a fruity cocktail and a fun atmosphere, visit Mr. Tiki Mai Tai!
