My mom was raised by parents that purchased everything at Salvation Army. I was raised by parents that purchased everything at Building 19. I have class. I shop at Ikea, Target, and Bernie & Phyll's. :) But, I'm not too good to rummage through the goods at the Consignment Gallery now and then looking for fixer uppers. I've never purchased anything there, but when my parents came up from Boston, I took them there and now it's all they want to do when they're up visiting us from Boston. My mother purchases things there and loves them. Mostly homestuff, but I'm sure she'd buy furniture too if she had the space for it in her car. I like the Consignment Gallery - it's jam packed which makes me feel a little overwhelmed - and not one, but two floors of it. Everything is used, some gently, some outright worn out, but it's still a good store to frequent because you never know what you might find. Check it out - you may find your treasure from someone elses' trash!

I have to rate this furniture store good for two reasons - the furniture is made poorly and the service is hit or miss. I ordered a cabinet over the summer and so far, it's split in a few places. The construction is rugged and poor. You can tell it's put together using poor materials on some island by island workers. I have no problem with island furnishings, I think they are beautiful to look at, but honestly, not to own. They furniture is nice for a few years, but of the few things from Spice Island that I've experienced personally, I'm not impressed. The wood cracks, fades, peels, you name it. I don't want Ethan Allen, but this isn't even Pier One quality - it's very poor.

At our office, we always order from Xing Wang. They show up fast and the prices and quality are great. Sure, it's the American style chinese food - complete with Crab Ragoons and Chicken Fingers, but it's really good food and the people that work there are very nice and easy to do business with - especially if you're placing a large order. I cannot suggest Xing Wang enough for Chinese take-out. They are located right off 101A in the same plaza as Giorgio's and Spice Island. Enjoy!

This Italian restaurant is very good compared to others in the area. The food is tasty and the restaurant is clean, pretty, and the service is good. There is plenty of parking and generally never a wait for dinner. On the weekends, it can get crowded, so arrive prepared to wait for a table. They have great dessert, too! Give Florence's a try - they have another restaurant in Boston's North End, so they have good blood. :)

The Dutch Epicure bakery on 101A in Amherst, NH is great. After going back and forth to Europe every year now since 1996, I have to say that it's hard to find bakeries in the USA that aren't overly sweet and fatty. The Dutch Epicure bakery is one of the few that actually tastes like Authentic Dutch recipes. The tarts aren't too sweet, the breads aren't loaded with preservatives, and the bakery itself isn't packed with 100's of treats - they have a few high quality pasties because their goal to keep everything fresh. The bakery itself isn't anything you'd choose to hang out in, it's more of a "take out" style bakery, but it's clean and the staff are polite. So, if you want to try baked goods that actually don't make you feel sugar loaded and bloated after you've consumed them, try the Dutch Epicure.

Two years ago, while at my desk at work, the front desk notified me that something was delivered and waiting for me downstairs. You know how you feel when you get "that" call. You feel butterflies, you think of your husband or your boss or someone that most likely sent you flowers. You feel so excited as you walk to the reception area to claim your prize. Just think of how excited I was when I was greeted by a huge gift basket overflowing with kitchen items and sweets in a beautiful box! The box was wrapped in clear wrapping paper and a huge blue/white check bow on top! I was walking on sunshine. I couldn't wait to get back to my desk and see who had been that thoughtful and generous and what was inside of this beautiful box! I unwrapped the bow slowly, careful to not ruin the display, but eventually I just tore into everything because of the sheer excitement. I read the card and saw that it was from two women I worked with that were just thanking me for my good work. It was the ultimate thank you. Within a few minutes of hearing my ooo's and ahhh's, a small crowd formed around my desk touching all the goodies in the box, asking me where it came from, wanting to know all about this special present. Everyone wanted a box now, too! It created such a good mood around the workplace that day - many felt very happy seeing me get something so nice - it's amazing what a good gesture can do! It was such a great gift and I'll never forget that feeling. When I found out where the box came from, Bank Village in Amherst, I visited the store and saw the most beautiful array of gifts and foods. It's such a lovely shop. When my friend in Manchester was going through a tough time, I arranged with Bank Village to send her a gift box and she loved it and was so impressed that they went all the way out there to deliver it to her. I love the Bank Village Gift Shop and HIGHLY suggest it to anyone that wants to give someone you love something special that doesn't die in a few days. In fact, as I type this, I'm looking over at my box that I still have on display on a shelf, only now in my home office. It holds stationary and I use it often - over 2 years now. What great memories it gives me everytime I see it on my shelf. Bank Village is responsible for that feeling - thank you BV Gift Baskets!

I've ordered several special occassion cakes from Frederick's and I've never been disappointed. Expect to pay around $130-150 for a sheet cake that will feed 40 people, but the cake is moist and delicious and the frosting is buttercream and just to die for! I recently purchased one in October for a large event and everyone enjoyed the cake out of all the desserts at the function - they liked the Frederick's cake that I brought. Again, the bakery is very expensive vs. a sheetcake at BJ's for instance, but I think a good cake is worth the money because I like to enjoy my dessert, not consume some oily sticky sweet gob from a grocery store bakery. I think when it comes to certain things in life, you do get what you pay for. For someone to custom make a cake for me with good ingrediants in a clean environment, it's worth $100 or more. I've never tried anything other than chocolate and vanilla sheetcakes, so I'm not a good judge as to how everything else tastes, but I'm sold on the cakes!

Cinemagic is a blessing to the Merrimack/Nashua area. We needed a stadium seating theatre so badly. I was so tired of driving all the way to Lowell, MA for a decent movie theatre. Cinemagic is clean (including the spotless bathrooms), the theatre is very large, offers a lot of parking, sells food like chicken fingers, nachos, mozerella sticks, candy, and of course, popcorn - and the prices are reasonable for the concessions. They even have a small arcade if you need to wait for the movie or entertain the kids. The crowds it draws are all age crowds - it's not like some theatres that are just mobbed by teenagers on the weekends - this theatre truly is for everyone. The sound is a little low sometimes, you may need to ask them to turn it up, but other than that, the overall picture is crisp and clear, the sound quality is great, and the movies are never sold out so you can go and really see the movie you wanted to see. Beware of the ticket machine in their lobby though - it rarely works and can waste a lot of your time. Just go to the cashier to request a ticket - it's faster. So grab some popcorn and enjoy the show!

Enjoy stepping into the little yellow cottage on the property of the Bedford Village Inn. This special cottage is called the, "Carriage House" Gift Shop and it's like walking into a dream of accessories for all types of people with all kinds of tastes. This gift shop is very charming, and the manager is a living doll - very sweet and extraordinarily talented in making this gift shop feel quaint and posh at the same time. When I enter the shop, although I live 15 minutes nearby, I feel like I'm on vacation. They sell many luxury items and gresat handbags from Vera Bradley and Oona Coco. Hope you get to visit the Carriage House Gift Shop - it's heaven on earth!

I don't know, all the rave reviews I heard about this place from engineers at my job lured me in. It was okay, but nothing great. Maybe, given that I spent 15 years in Boston eating in the North End, I just developed a different taste for what Italian food should taste like. Ya Mamma's is good, but not great.
