Great retail space for wonderful home accessories - especially if you're into modern + clean design. They have a e-commerce site, so you can shop from your living room, or you can visit their inviting retail space in the South End on Washington Street. I like all the Dutch and German lines they carry, and I thought the mood in the store was relaxed and friendly without being pushy or a pain. The space is open and airy, makes for a good place to shop with a friend as it's not a tiny cramped room. What I like about Lekker is how they carry a lot of items, but it doesn't feel that way when you're inside because everything is arranged so well. It's not packed tight with so much eye candy that you get dizzy and walk out. I highly suggest shopping at Lekker.

I just loved the Red Fez on Washington Street in the South End. For one, the atmosphere is great. Not so ultra hip that you feel out of place, but not shabby or dingy either. It's very nice inside, warm, mellow, dark...love the whole vibe they have going on with the chill out house music they play at night in the bar. They also have free valet parking and a great patio in the warmer months. I was impressed by their food, I ordered the Seared Scallops Basil and Red Bell Pepper Concassé for $10 with a $2 side of rice pilaf and made a dinner from it. My husband ordered the Grilled Kefta Ground Lamb and Beef, Cumin Yogurt Sauce and Rice for $16. We loved both meals - excellent. For drinks, I had a few of their delicious (and potent!) raspberry margarita's, and my husband had a few martinis that he also enjoyed. We returned a second time with friends for drinks and dessert in the bar, which was also a great evening. We split the Red Fez Cookie tray with Ma’Mul, Burma, Date and Fig Ma’mul, a slice of fruity cheesecake, and the Espresso Rum Cake. I was surprised that cookies and cake could taste so good. It was nice to have something different to, you can't find Ma’Mul, Burma, Date and Fig Ma’mul just anywhere! Their port selection is great, we had a Offley Tawny Colheita Vintage 1985 and a Ramos Pinto 20 yr Tawny, both were a yummy and made for a very happy ending. To locate Red Fez, visit them online at www.theredfez.com

Magpie advertises themselves as having "Shiny Things for Your Nest", and they do. They market themselves primarily to the whole Indie Craft movement that is overtaking 20-something America. I'm not 20, but I actually am sucked in by the whole craft thing, myself. It's fun and individualistic and not Made in China. The store in Davis Square is very small, cute, and eclectic (albeit a little dishoveled). But, it's charming in a Morrissey retro 80's kind of way, and packed to the gills with things like soap dishes, glass pins, and cross-bone scarves, that somehow, can live together peacefully.

Healthworks is an amazing fitness center. I would never refer to it as a gym. It's so much more than treadmills and stairmasters. The whole Healthworks experience is more of a lifestyle - you walk in the doors and instantly your "to do" list evaporates, your cell phone is tossed, and your stress fades. The locker rooms are beautiful, although I would prefer to see less nudity in the locker room and whirlpool areas. I think people need to be respectful of others and running around naked when you can wear a towel, would be more respectful. I can see quickly changing at your locker, but walking around in your birthday suit, blowing out your hair in your thong and topless, it's just not what I'd like to see. Other than the nudist camp environment, I love the gym. The fitness areas are all very clean, people are focused on thier workouts, they have TV's all over, and the classes are great.

Cibeline is a beautiful store owned by a fashion designer that has a real love for clothes and retail. I went into the store recently and met her; impressed by her relaxed personality and positive spirit. Her shop is exquisite, with bright teal and red walls and beautiful displays. Anyone would feel like a princess shopping at Cibeline. With her sewing room adjacent to the space, you can clearly see that she invests her whole life into this business - and it shows - she wears a smile with realness to it, a sense of pride, a sense of "I know what I've got here, and it's special". The clothes were all lovely, too. In addition, her retail space is large for a boutique and laid out very well for navigating and lingering. The sales staff is bright, fun, and very engaging. No attitude in this shop. You feel like you're shopping amongst friends. If you want upscale retail with a personal touch, shop Cibeline.

Fabric Place in Woburn is a really great store. They carry all the sewing odds n ends you can think of, have great sales bins, bolts of fabric from Waverly and many other designers, and a decent selection of trims. They also offer classes, however I've never taken one. They have excellent coupons too - you can sign up online or at the register - sooo worth it because the deals are unreal. They also have a custom window treatment department with many displays - I like browsing for ideas. They seem to carry many patterns and have pattern catalogs available to browse. I like Amy Butler patterns and fabric, however they carry very little of it. But, the store is located right off of 95/128 in the Woburn Mall which has a lot of nice shops and a lot of parking. I'd rate Fabric Place as the next best thing to Zimman's in Lynn.
