Hollis Hosting is a Hollis based web hosting company, started back in 2002 (hey, that's "vintage" for internet companies these days), and they offer great pricing and EXCELLENT above and beyond service. The owner, Lukasz Tomczyk, is an all around wonderful humanoid. He is the best geek out there - knows his data suites from his Cisco swtiches, and really answers questions thoroughly and with real brain power. My husband uses Hollis Hosting for his website, and I am about to sign up too. Hollis Hosting can't be beat!

Don't get me wrong...whenever I'm in a home supplies store I feel a surge of excitement pulse through me. Something about the endless possibilities of tricking out my pad with multiple colors simultaneously really arouses my interest. But, for some reason, Nashua Paint & Wallpaper doesn't get me started. I don't know - there's something almost "hardware store" about it. There's a whole lot of "paint contractor guys" hanging out in there requesting large orders, for one.
This is a little intimidating to me with my one little gallon of paint - standing behind "Rick's Paint Company" who just ordered 15 gallons of Alabaster White in Eggshell finish. I feel a little vunerable in there. When I ask for help selecting the color
of my one gallon of paint, I get my head bitten off by the paint mixer man telling me that he doesn't do color - just mixes 'em. He explains there's a color guy, but he's not in. I get that line everytime I visit Nashua Paint & Wallpaper so I wonder if the paint guy really exists of if he is really a Pigment of my imagination. This paint shop has an excellent wallpaper section, but I hate to sound like a snob, but who the heck wallpapers nowadays? I go for the paint, and frankly, I'm not impressed with the atmosphere or service. The California Paints and Benjamin Moore Paints they offer are exceptional though and I can't say enough about both of those lines. Just don't go there thinking they'll help you with colors or answer any questions because they seem to cater to the paint contractors with the bulk orders. I'll return to this store because they offer the Ben Moore line, but if another Ben Moore dealer pops up around town, I'll gladly check them out instead. I feel no loyalty to this store.

I witnessed my friend giving birth to her baby and I have to rate the Nashua St. Joseph Hospital as TOP NOTCH in this area for excellent bedside manners, warm and caring RNs, Wonderful doctor, and all around professional and caring staff. I was also impressed at how they really take time to explain what is going on to their patient, in detail. The entire process was a delight to me and we have the entire staff to thank for making the St. Joseph's Maternity Ward such a pleasure.

When I worked in Merrimack, I went to the Merrimack DW House of Pizza quite often for lunch (across the street from Ya Mamma's). I also ordered pizza's there quite often for our office staff when we worked late and needed dinner. Both the pizza and the subs are great. They are a pain though when it comes to delivery, which always got under my skin, but maybe they've added delivery with no minimum dollar amount now, I'm not sure. The restaurant is very "no frills" with plastic booths and tacky Greek travel photos on the walls from the 1980s pizza joints, but no one cares about decor when they're in sub/pizza shop. The place is clean, the staff is nice, and the prices are good. They sell my favorite, "Orangina" beverage in their drink case, along with some juices, which is a nice break from sodas. They don't have much on the dessert side - except small packs of Oreo's and those cheap chocolate chip cookies you buy at vending machines. As for snacks, they have chips, but they only offer one brand of plain chips, so there's not variety for snacks, either. However, most people are there to get in and get out and have a quick and easy lunch. I'm sure you'll enjoy the food at the Merrimack House of Pizza - it's not a chain so go and support your local small businesses!

The Framery is a dream come true for me. After being taken for a ride for so long at these mall print shops and the Michael's Arts & Crafts frame department, paying over the top prices, I've finally located a real Frame Gallery with GREAT service and pricing. For example, I had to have two 12"H X 16"W charcoal drawings framed with a brushed nickel thin metal frame. No mat. Just a frame and real glass (vs. plexiglass that you find elsewhere). Michael's quoted me $150 minimum for EACH print - so $300 total and they said it could even be more, they wouldn't know until they got into the actual framing process. Whatever THAT means, I don't know, but it didn't sound like the quote was very stable. I also have to add that $150 was after the holiday 50% off coupon I had. So, retail, this job would have been an easy $500 for GLASS and a FRAME! I went to the Framery and the charge was under $100 for BOTH. What more can I say? That is savings enough to make me a very happy repeat customer!

Do you love to sew? Try quilting! It's a fun hobby and most of all, it's fun to shop for the fabrics and take the fun classes that Quiltopia has to offer. The owner is a nice lady that runs her little business with class and style. She is professional and polite. The class I took was fun - we learned how to make a handbag out of quilting squares. They offer GREAT fabrics and fat quarters, along with supplies like cutting boards, patterns, and cutters. Located in a quaint little shopping village that is nearly dead, you'll never fight for a parking spot! This is a nice, stress-free way to shop and to learn - try Quiltopia!

It's hard to write this review because it's a very emotional one for me. About a year ago, my grandfather had to admit my grandma into the Westerly Heath Center (nursing home). Sad, but true. Both are in their late 80s and life is slipping away from her. When I first heard the news, I thought, "No! No!" because I've only heard tragic tales of nursing home drama and wicked nurses from, well, the hot burning inferno that torture helpless elderly victims by not feeding them, not washing them, and stealing their stuff. However, I never heard any rumor of this happening at the Westerly Health Center. In fact, I googled them and conducted HOURS of research to try to dig up ONE negative about them and nada, nothing, zilch. Made me feel a lot better, however I wanted to see what grandma thought. After 6 months, I asked her, "So how are they treating you in there?" and she smiled and told me how good the nurses are to her and how nice they always treat her. I decided to do a random "drop in" visit to check, and other than a very nasty bathroom (someone just used it and had an accident in there, the nurse cleaned it by the time we left), the place was clean and not at all creepy or morbid. The nurses were very friendly and talkative and their station, and everything appeared to be in order. When I call her, they always make an effort to get her on the phone so I can talk to her. I am a pretty good judge of situations and I didn't feel that the center was abusive or neglectful or cold. I still don't think anything negative about it, it appears to be a normal health care center and feels much like a quiet little hospital. Of course, it's hard to review a nursing home, but all emotion aside, I trust my grandmother with the Westerly Health Center.

CR Sparks - Where Sparks Fly!

Okay. Here's the situation. My parents went away on a weeks vacation. Wait, that's the theme to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Sorry. Back to the situation. We live in southern NH and let's face it, if you want trendy + hip places to eat, you can forgetta 'bout it. Last time I checked, Long Horn and Applebees wasn't trendy OR hip. When I dine, I want to escape my life and live a fantasy life. I want to be rich and living la vida loca, having just stepped off my yacht. I want to walk into a restaurant and feel amazing because of the ambiance that it wraps me in. Like silk, I want to slip smoothly into a lifestyle metamorphisis. Around me may be all soccer moms, but sweetheart, they are wearing Prada tonight and no one even knows they just left the field with little Johnney screaming in the back of the minivan. See, they are pretending that they too, are living the lush life on 5th Avenue. We all want escapism. We all want THAT feeling - a place that slips us into the good life for the evening, a place that lights our spark... CR Sparks does just that. Succulent food. Amazing service. Great bar, Exceptional Service. Yum-o Desserts, and a Chic + Hip Environment (you'd think you were in a major city when you walk in). Sure, you'll easily spend $75-150 on a meal for two - but you can also spend under $50 if you split a delicious gourmet pizza, an appetizer, and 2 glasses of wine. Best of all, if you do opt for the budget meal option (pizza + wine), you won't get the evil eye from the waiter. They will still bring you assorted rolls with a trio of spreads and serve you with style. CR Sparks is my escape in NH from NH. TIP: Do Brunch on the weekends. With mimosa, salmon cakes, and maple walnut waffles, who can go wrong? The brunch at Sparks is great!
