Jule's Place in the South End is a terrific gallery with beautiful art that you can view in advance online and then, set up a private viewing with Julie Mussafer to view the hundreds of fine art paintings she has on display/in storage - here are the artists that she represents (http://www.julesplace.com/artist_set.html). The space is beautiful, it's a huge loft space that looks like a home so it's easy to visualize how the art would look in your own home - which I like because seeing something in a gallery vs. in an actual home interior are often very different. Also, Julie will visit you are your home to help you choose the perfect painting. She represents over 50 artists so there is a lot to enjoy about Jules Place.

Whenever I'm on Charles Street in Beacon Hill, I visit Good. A tiny retail space with beautiful nature-inspired wares for the home, Good is a delightful boutique with the sweetest sales staff and lovely home accessories, including a sea urchin votive holder, a new love of mine that I quickly purchased, along with a beautiful Japanese kiriwood coaster. I scooped up a large coaster to place beneath the urchin and together, they create organic intimate beauty on my bedside table. Once illuminated, the ceramic urchin is aglow with light jutting out of tiny holes, relaxing and simply exquisite.
Good also features other tealight holders, jewelry (the adina collection is beautiful), john derian goodies, flatware, lighting... and so many other things that you'll be surprised that a store this small offers so much without feeling cluttered.
If you are not in Boston, you can also shop Good online http://www.shopatgood.com/, they have e-commerce.

I've been going to the "Pru" as the locals call it for years - it's a great place. Park over at the Copley Square garage and walk through Copley and shop there (3 floors including Barney's New York) and then walk through the indoor glass breezeway from Copley to the Shops at Prudential Center to continue your shopping experience. There is a California Pizza Kitchen to your right and an Express for men to your left. Continue forward and you'll see many places to shop and enjoy. There's a Krispy Kreame donuts, food court, Legal Seafoods, Jasmine Sola, Barnes + Noble, Cheesecake Factory, Sephora, Ann Taylor, lots and lots to see and shop and the feeling overall is very city chic, I like it. It's a great place to go when the weather is cold or rainy because you can walk from Copley all the way to Boylston Street without going outside, just by walking through these large shopping areas. That's a real plus in the winter. Copley is more upscale with Tiffany's, Barney's, Armani, etc. Prudential is more affordable. Both offer hotels, shops, food and kiosks in the center to shop at. Enjoy!

We love to dine in Boston, especially at Jewel of Newbury on Newbury Street. Enjoy a glass of California 2002 cabernet sauvignon and fine north african cuisine, the food is delicious. Mouldi, the owner, treated us to a special private tour of his 5 star boutique hotel with 18th and 19th century antiques, just upstairs from the restaurant. You can tour it online here. http://www.jewelboston.com/gallery.html
However, the experience simply isn't the same as in person, it put me in awe. If you're ever in Boston, you should consider either dining or resting your head at this very fine establishment. The food, the wine, the ambiance - tres chic!
EXQUISITE!

The New England Aquarium is great. They have live shows (dolphins, sea lions) and a giant tank in the center of the building that is 3-4 stories high with a walkway that wraps all around the circular tank so you can walk slowly up to the top viewing all the sea life inside of the tank as you journey to the top where you can then look down into the center. It's beautiful. Very moving, especially if you are someone that loves creation in all it's many forms. The center tank contains everything from sharks to string rays and fish of all kinds. It's absolutely amazing. The aquarium has a lot to see, a penguin section, misc. fish tanks of amazing fish, some from the deepest darkest depths of the ocean that you'd never see otherwise... lots of beautiful things to marvel at. The hands on area is my favorite because you can touch starfish and enjoy some of the living things in a small pool using your fingers. I like that, and I'm not even a child! Children love the New England Aquarium, but it's also fascinating for adults without children. There's an omni max theatre showing nature and popular flicks - and the gift show is very nice. The building was just renovated so it's quite lovely inside. You should go if you're visiting Boston, it's quite impressive.

Located in the mission district, Otsu will be moving their eco-friendly boutique from 16th street over to Valencia Street in May 2006. They specialize in vegan unique products that are handmade, like paper goods, gifts, and t-shirts. I love their Little Otsu cards - my favorite. They are moving into a smaller location so they are able to focus more on publishing, although this will still maintain a small retail space
I'd like to add that they did carry shoes or belts but no longer will in their new location next month.

Located in the mission district, artist-xchange is a great store committed to assisting emerging artists, like one of my favorites, Joanna Mendicino. They also have an online store that you can visit while not in the San Francisco area. With several artist openings throughout the year, it's obviously that the owners are a social bunch, and their love of music is evident in that they have DJs are some of their events - fun! They also feature workshops and children’s art classes in their clean modern environment.

I'm a huge fan of notNeutral from their glassware all the way to their modern garden stakes that are kitschy cute. Their hip retail store in Melrose East at 6824 Melrose Ave. in LA is confident and fun, just like their online store (http://www.notneutral.com) . Their prices are excellent and the service is top notch.

Peace Industry offers oodles of fantastic modern and traditional style rugs that are as affordable (considering how they are made), as they are head turning beauties. My favorites are from their Melina Raisnnia felt collection, a collaboration between master Iranian felt-maker, Asghar Aliyari, and painter, Melina Raissnia. Each rug is handmade using natural shades of wool and vegetable dyes. You can visit them while in San Francisco at their brick and mortar shop located at Hayes Valley at 535 Octavia @ Ivy just north of Hayes street, close to the new park. Hours are Mon, Wed-Sat 11-7. Sun 11-5. Closed Tues. Phone: (415)-255-9940
