The only times I've been to El Cholo have been because of the student discount they offer to USC students. Every time I've gone I've been disappointed in the quality of the food, closer to fast Mexican food but served on a plate. The portions are big enough, it's just that the food is nothing to get excited about. To make it worse it's usually busy so you have to wait for a table and the parking is bad so you have to valet.

In case you're not familiar with frozen yogurt, this is some of the best in the city. The premise is that there are 6 flavors and several mix-ins which you can either have put on top or mixed in (cold stone style.) This provides for nearly ANY flavor to accommodate any craving! The problem is that the line is almost always long and it's pretty over-priced, but if you're in the area and you have a sweet tooth it's definitely worth checking out.

Everything is extremely affordable (entrées usually under $10) and the portions are so big you can definitely split them. Make sure to order something from the bakery to take home!

If you want an expensive and fancy sushi restaurant where the staff waits on you hand and foot: do not go to Sushi Mac! If you want a fun and casual dining experience with sushi for $2.50/plate then Sushi Mac is the place. The spicy and tempura shrimp is my favorite dish, but my favorite part of the restaurant as a whole are the "rules" they have posted liberally around the small dining room. One of the rules is "Loud music: store policy!" While the music isn't always loud the personality of the owners and staff shine through to give a very unique restaurant. Great for new friends and people visiting LA for the first time!

I used to be a fan of this establishment. I appreciated their cheap and funky clothes and jewelry and gave them 2 years of my life that I can never get back. One hot summer day I was about to embark on an outdoor adventure sans sunglasses and to run into Elegance to buy affordable pair. Unfortunately, mid-adventure the screw from my now cheap pair of sun glasses feel out. Being that they broke the same day and I had the receipt to prove it, I returned to Elegance the next day to seek an exchange for a functional pair. When I went in the owner of the store told me that I had two options 1) bring back the tiny screw that fell out so that he could fix them himself 2) buy another pair. I was dissatisfied and expressed this to the owner and to ensure customer satisfaction he began screaming at me--in front of the children and their mothers in the store at the time--until I left in tears. If you want quality products and services, do not go here.

When you walk into Fred 62's your first thought may be "what is the theme?" The booths look like car seats, the walls feature paintings of outdoor landscapes with nonsensical phases, and the staff wear shirts reading "I'm Fred." To accompany the funky decor are equally eclectic staff members and patrons. No doubt Fred 62's is an LA hot spot for hipsters not just from Los Feliz but from all corners of the city. Being that Fred's is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a weeks, and 365 days a year, it wouldn't be a surprise to go there for a late night brownie sundae or hippy sandwich and see someone famous, no guarantees, just personal experience.
