I stopped by the Arab Cultural and Community Center to see what type of work they do and to see if there are volunteer opportunities for people interested in helping out.
I first went to their website at: http://www.arabculturalcenter.org/contact.html
I think their mission statement (to promote mutual understanding between the Arab Community & the community at large to work against prejudice & anti-Arab sentiments) is something we desperately need at this time. I spoke with Amna and Inas on the phone and in person and found that there are a lot of ways that everybody can become more involved.
Check it out!

Each year over 100 volunteers provide an estimated 20,000 hours of practical, emotional and spiritual support to 150 individuals and their families as the face death from cancer, AIDS and other illnesses. If you are interested in volunteering with the Zen Hospice Project, go to their website at: www.zenhospice.org or contact Mark Matheson.
The Zen Hospice Project operates on a model that transcends "charity work," by encouraging a mutually beneficial relationship between volunteers & people who are dying.
Please contact them and offer your support.

If you're interested in helping PAWS clients stay with their beloved animal companions, you should think about investing the time and effort to help. The office I went to were located at 645 Harrison St Suite 100.
They have a pet "food bank" there that needs volunteer help from time to time.

If you are interested in volunteering with the Stop AIDS project, first off you should check out their website at http://www.stopaids.org/
After you've read the mission statement (The mission of the STOP AIDS Project is to prevent HIV transmission among all gay, bisexual and transgender men in San Francisco through collaborative and multicultural, community- based organizing) then I think you should contact Dan Ledoux who organizes volunteer efforts. They could use assistance in a variety of ways. You could get trained and work on a regular basis with the project, or even on a one-time basis if they need help with fundraisers or events.

I stopped by Hamilton for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I had heard about them in the past, but I am so glad I stopped by.
Here is their website if you want to check it out http://www.hamiltonfamilycenter.org/index.html
Hamilton provides food & shelter, as well as services that allow clients to return to self-sufficiency. Their address is 1525 Waller and if you're interested in volunteering, you should contact Alise Wellman. You don't need to be experienced in volunteering, just be consistent and dependable.
Remember to volunteer throughout the year...not just during the holidays!

I had the chance to visit The Welcome Ministry and I found it to be the most loving and caring place that provides individual care and counseling to its homeless and hungry friends. Their website is http://www.oldfirst.org/welcomeministry/main/ and they are located at 1751 Sacramento Street. I spoke to Reverand Megan Rohrer when I went there and she was amazing. Call her if you are interested in volunteering or ask for her email!
They really do amazing work here and could use your support.

I work with many groups that come to San Francisco to work on volunteer service projects. Some of these groups are schools and churches throughout the United States. I have heard wonderful feedback about their experiences with St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church http://www.saintgregorys.org/ . On Fridays, from 3:30 to 5:30pm, they serve nearly three tons of food to about 300 local families & individuals offering groceries to everyone who visit. They also do a Food Pantry one Sunday each month. 500 De Haro Street. You can call Paul Fromberg for more information or ask for his email address.
Keep up the great work!

I help organize groups that are interested in volunteering their time while in San Francisco. Some of these groups are from various schools or churches throughout the United States. The San Francisco Food Bank http://www.sffoodbank.org/ always needs volunteers to sort, package and distribute food for hungry people. I would suggest to anybody that is interested to visit them at 900 Pennsylvania Avenue and speak to Sam Marcum or Lisa Start or ask for their email addresses.
They do amazing work and I suggest you help them out!

I had an emergency and I had to bring my pet in to see a vet. The people at Pets Unlimited made me feel comfortable about coming in and the prices were reasonable considering this was an emergency. The vet, the pharmacist, the front desk staff, as well as the tech were professional and friendly and I really felt like my cat was in good hands. I would suggest anybody looking to adopt should contact them and continue receiving vet services from Pets Unlimited.
Thanks to the staff. My kittie is feeling much better!

I help organize student groups and churches that are looking for volunteer opportunities in San Francisco. I have worked with Glide Memorial Church, www.glide.org and have received positive feedback from those groups that have volunteered there. Glide has daily meal services for the disadvantaged and I've heard that they especially need bag lunch assistants on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-11am. They are located at 330 Ellis Street and you can speak to the volunteer coordinator, Kris Johnson if you are interested in helping by calling her or asking for her email address.
