They do what they're meant to -- get clothes clean, but it seems there's always at least one article of clothing that's not ready when it's supposed to be... they always have it ready the following day but for procrastinators like myself this can be frustrating when your perfect sweater isn't ready for your weekend trip.

this place is great -- they've gotten out many a red wine stain. Prices are a little higher than other cleaners in the area -- but for tough items they're great.

This latin-owned convenience market is a great spot to pick up a gallon of milk, snacks or liquor... just check the date closely (many items are left on the shelf way past their expiration date)....

It's not the cleanest market, but the prices beat 7-11 or other quickie-marts in the area -- and the staff is much nicer!

This is a great place to grab a cup of coffee to go or to meet with friends. There is usually loud music playing (the owner seems to live punk, which is kind of cool). The food/snacks here seem to leave something to be desired, but the new location (it used to be down the street) is super convenient -- you can now go straight into the red line L stop -- to get a coffee in the morning on your way to work.

Dollop is a great place to hang out if you're looking for a quite spot to grab a snack/coffee. It does slightly have a library feel and most people aren't talking so your conversation is easily heard. It's not a great place to meet friends (I'd recommend emerald city for that) But it's a nice neighborhood place to grab a generous sized coffee or tea. Larges are served in soup bowls and the downside is they tend to get cold before you finish.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The Thai menu is delicious. Try the panang noodles for a truly decadent, carb-licious meal -- they actually deep fry the noodles. They'll also substitute rice if you're more health conscious. Also great is the cashew chicken and the veggie rolls. Joy's also delivers through it's sister-restaurant, Noodles in the Pot (located on Halsted)

The paraffin pedicure is to die for -- but don't expect a lot of conversation the salon sort of has the feel of one of the strip mall places without the low prices. It's also much cleaner than those places.

This is one of the most reasonably prices salons in the city! Cali is great for waxing and Karen gives the best pedicure I've ever had (she's trained in reflexology and gives a killer foot massage). The one downside is she recently cut back her hours so getting an appointment is really hard. The other girls also do an exceptional job, but it's not quite the same. The stylists are okay for basic trims but none does anything extraordinary. The location and prices are really the selling point of this place.

Whatever you order I recommend getting a side of potatoes you won't be sorry. The one downside to this place is it can be a little dirty. The high traffic means dishes get used a lot and the rushed staff doesn't always do a great job of cleaning the tables.
