Super Jock & Jill does one of the best shoe fittings I have ever had. I spent many years getting super intense pointe shoe fittings for dance. They could take up to an hour or more to finish. This is the closest and most detailed fitting I have had since. They don't believe in measuring your feet. They believe in well fit shoes. You have to be prepared to spend some time trying on a lot of pairs. They will study your stance, how you walk, and which shoe works best. They analyze every shoe you try and even seek out opinions from other employees. It is definitely a science. Because of many years of abuse dancing and funny feet to begin with, I was shocked to find my best shoe was a Brooks Adrenaline™ GTS 6 in a men's 7 1/2 and but...am totally in love with them. They do push insoles and if you have some, bring them with you.

This is on the top 5 places to go list in Seattle. The best part is, the prices are super reasonable and the quality and authenticity (Emilia Romagna) are consistently great. Beware, there will be a long wait if you do not make reservations (almost every night). For those on a snug budget, Thursday evenings are prix fixe - for $28 you get a 3 to 4 course meal. We have brought bottles from home but there's no need - the wine list is great. If you haven't been, try the traditional Ragu and the Piadina (any flavor). We have been told they are moving locations and will be relocating to the super hip 12th ave next to Retro - this may actually help with parking and the current seating shortage. I just hope it doesn't go downhill like so many other restaurants that moved locations i.e. Wild Ginger...

Matt's isn't bad. We visited Chicago a couple years back and really loved the classic Chicago hot dogs - way better than the pizza! Matt's has managed to replicate them quite well. I have not tried any of the other many menu options but they are plentiful. We have only been to the one in the U-District - I am not sure if the one in Ballard is the same. Be sure to read their Mission Statement while you wait.

The previous owner of our home used these guys and they did an excellent job. I hesitated giving a perfect 5 stars because I didn't use them personally but I have heard nothing but good things. We have a 1905 Craftsman in Madrona and are reaping the benefits of thoughtful and complimentary design. They gutted the upstairs and opened up the low ceilings and exposed some of the original beams. It created these incredible angles which are remarkably aesthetic. They opened up the downstairs by combining rooms and remodeling the kitchen. Whenever original work could be salvaged it was. There is a great compliment between modern and very old. John Fleming was responsible for designing our home.

Each weekday FareStart serves lunch and every Thursday they host a guest chef who volunteers to spend their time and money during the afternoon and evening preparing and serving a small, three course culinary sample from their own repitoire. This isn't a meal that will knock your socks off, nor will it put a dent in your wallet (a measly $19.95), but it will leave you feeling good about yourself and the organization. Each Thursday there is usually one student graduating. You get a chance to hear about where they started, how they got to FareStart and where they are going once they leave the program. For those of you who don't know, "FareStart provides a community that successfully empowers men, women, and families to create new opportunities through food service training, life skills training, and job replacement." You can get a list of their upcoming guest chefs here http://www.farestart.org/guestchef.asp

These guys aren't cheap but they are honest. I found a couple of consistently good reviews through the car talk website and have been with them for a couple of years. They stick to their estimates and based on budget will even prioritize to accomodate. As well, they will send you a "check-up" reminder for the items that still need to get done. The customer service is great.

I like to think that having a lot of cool workout clothes will inspire me to workout more :) Although that is still up for debate, there is no debate about how great Lucy is at U-Village. I check in every few months to see what new arrivals they have and each time I get the BEST service. The girls there know me well and aren't afraid to give me their honest opinions. If it doesn't look good, they aren't going to sell it to me. Many of their pants come in short, regular & tall. In addition, they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. The prices are a little steep but not to worry - just get on their mailing list and you will get your monthly coupon which is usually good for up to 35% off depending on how much you spend. They also have an awesome sales rack where the initial mark-down is always 50%. I have had a couple of problems with the quality of construction but was able to return it/exchange it without any hassle at all. As well as their own brand, they also carry Nike, Adidas, Puma, Prana and a few more. I would highly recommend this shop to any girl looking for some super comfy threads.

Frank has done a number of different jobs for me. I have modeled for his stockwork (see photo above), had our holiday photo done, our professional website photos AND he volunteered to do photography for a FareStart event that our group hosted. He is hilarious and fun and most importantly, very talented.

My hair life has been a nightmare since leaving Bellingham. I had the same hairdresser for over five years - Amy at the Cat and Fiddle Salon in Fairhaven. For the first year in Seattle, I drove up to see Amy every eight weeks. Then she moved to Denver and I figured that was a bit far for me to travel for a haircut and color. It has taken me over two years and a TON of different stylists but I am very happy to announce I have found my girl! Giselle at Ola in West Seattle is great. I sit down, I get a glass of red wine, I watch her do her magic and laugh the whole time. My hair looks great - I wish I could have found her sooner!
