If you're not much of an opera fan, I suggest trying the Houston Grand Opera just once. It's located inside the Wortham Theatre and is just a delight to watch and listen to.
Sometimes, they have free shows at the Miller Outdoor Theatre which is also a great place. I went to a few shows with my friends and most...most of us liked it.
I think I'll probably come back if I see something I like. It doesn't cost that much for tickets so don't worry about burning a whole in your wallet.
