The Dane is one of my favorite restaurants in Madison. Every time we come back into town we inevitably stop here for a beer and then end up staying for food. My favorite is the cheesy artichoke dip (sometimes I get it for my meal!). They have a nice selection of beers. It gets a bit crowded on the weekend nights because they've got a huge pool table room where people come to play. It's a really fun bar that's just a little nicer and more mature than some of the other bars down state street.

We head here before softball season to try out the batting cages. The staff is friendly and it's a good time and good place to get ready for the upcoming season. I haven't played mini golf here...

I haven't played mini golf here yet, but got a look at the course and it looks decent. Similar to a lot of the mini-golf places in the midwest. No real frills. I did hear a lot of "doh!"s coming from the course, so apparently it isn't that easy. Fun times here for kids and adults.

I did find that even with the best sales their mattresses were not as good of prices as some of the mattress stores. You can sign up for discount coupons that you'll receive by email pretty much every week. I think that those coupons are also available in the newspaper. I pretty much wouldn't go there unless you've got the coupon or are going to buy things on clearance, because those are really the best values.

This is so much cheaper than buying them anywhere else when you're trying to conceive. They also have good deals on dish washing detergent and other cleaning supplies. We go there often before the holidays for just fun stocking stuffer-like gifts.

We only lived here for 6 months because we were in the process of buying a house, but that was exactly what was so great. They have 6 month leases (that can be negotiated down in price, fyi). The walls are really thick so you can't hear anything from any of the neigbors. There is a nice exercise room in the basement that is almost always vacent (I can't figure that out). But the best thing is the doorman. He's just fantastic. So friendly, and I always felt like he was looking out for us. Also, there are pets allowed, so if you're not a fan of dogs this may not be the place for you because there are often big ones running around.

Although this was on a Thursday afternoon. Don't really know what that was all about. It's a perfectly fine mall with a bunch of restaurants in the vicinity. They did have a good candy shop that had some great treats. Plus it's near the metro station so you don't have to drive to get there, you can just take the train.

We went here because they had a coupon in the entertainment book, so we got buy-one get-one entrées. It ended up being a great deal with a ton of food for not much money at all. The service was fine, a little slow, but they were apologetic about that. The place was pretty crowded, but we got seated right away. I don't think there is a smoking section, so it's smokey all around the place, but we still had a good experience.

I have very little experience with sewing, but I got a sewing machine for my birthday, so I was thrust into this world. I went to Joanne Fabrics and the woman working there was so helpful. She helped me find and pick out the fabric I was interested in and then was asking what I needed it for, to help. They have a great selection and good sales on holiday decorations. It did take a while to get through the checkout line, but I think that was because it was a Saturday afternoon.

The first thing I noticed about Hobby Lobby is it just stretches on and on. It's really just a huge store. This means that there is just a ton of stuff that they carry. It kind of seems like Michaels melded to Pier One with some JoAnne Fabrics thrown in. They have a ton of scrapbooking supplies and pretty much everything else you can think of. However, they aren't open Sunday. I always forget this and end up heading to Michaels after I find out they're closed.

I always head to Michaels when I'm in the need of crafty things, and each time I'm there I'm surprised at how much stuff they actually have. Additionally, almost every weekend you can find a 50 or 40% off coupon in the newspaper for a single item. The only thing to be careful of is it's only for non-sale items. I got into a pickle with this because I tried to use it on an item that was on sale and just wanted them to take 40% off the regular price, but you can't do that. Other than that I've had good luck here.
