I've been to this salon a few times. My oldest sister got her hair professionally straightened here (Japanese style) and the price was pretty reasonbale. Her hair was completely curly and even though she had to put a flat iron to it, it did not take her long to fix her hair. I do come to this salon to do my nails sometimes. The prices are not bad, but, they are not cheap. When I went here to get my nails done, I never saw the manicurist clean her utensils, but, I do not know if she cleans them in the back or not. The variety of colors to chose from are not very large and the manicurist does not really talk to you. If you go to Sloane Square Beauty Salon to get a hair cut or fix your hair, I would recommend this salon, however, if you want to go for a mainure or a pedicure, I would find somewhere else to go because the customer service by the manicurist is awful and I'm not sure if she cleans her utensils at all.

Plain Jane's is located on the first block of West Portal. I always walk into this store when I am in the neigborhood and I always find nice things, but, I never buy anything because the prices are always very high. Also, everytime I go into the store, the owner of the store asks me if he can help me with anything and when I tell him that I am just looking, he walks off but continues to keep his eye on me as though I am going to steal something, which I do not appreciate at all. They always have beautiful displays on the windows and make it seem as though you can find evrything in the store, but, when I went in, not only was the prices very high, but, I did not enjoy the bad customer service. If you like pretty things, but, don't mind paying the high prices, this store can work for you.

I always go to Reflections when I want to get a hair cut. I go the male named Tamar, who always does an excellent job. He is very talkative, and jokes around with you. The last time that I went there, I wanted to try something different because I always seemed to get an ordinary hair cut and he suggested that he cut my hair in layers. I was reluctant to get my hair cut that way and I did not want him to cut my hair very short because I like to keep my hair long. When he was done and I looked at my hair, I loved it. I could not have asked for anything better. I highly recommend to go to Reflections in El Camino for a hair cut, but, if you go, the person that you need to go to is Tamar because everyone else there is a little over priced and they do not do as good of a job as Tamar. He charged me $30, and I thought that it was pretty reasonable because he did a great job.

I've been to JT Nails a few times; I like to return when I am in the area. My friend recommended this salon to me. The first time that I went there, I liked the fact that the customer service was excellent. When I first walked into the salon, the lady there made conversation and smiled. I picked out a color I wanted her to use. Throughout the entire time she was doing my nails, she kept a conversation and was also concentrating on doing my nails. She did keep silent for a little while when she was fixing my cuticles, however, I knew she needed to concentrate. The prices are pretty reasonable and the customer service is excellent. I would highly recommend this nail salon to anyone I may know who is looking to receive a manicure and/or pedicure with excellent customer service and good prices.

I've been to Union Nails once before. I was in the neigborhood and I wanted to have my nails done. I walked into the Salon without an appointment, and only had to wait for about 10 minutes. When a manicurist was available, she told me to pick out a color, and they had a variety of colors to chose from. I picked a color and the lady told me to sit down in the chaor so she can begin doing my nails. She was very nice and made conversation, which I really enjoy. I did notice that she opened a new set of utensils, which is really important to me that everything was clean. The prices were pretty reasonable and the nail polish did last for a while before they began to chip. I would return to this salon when I am in the area.

Glow Hand and Foot Spa is located near Albersons on Fulton Street. When you first go into the salon, they ask you to chose a color to use. The first time I went into the salon, I did not like it because even though the manicurist opened a new set of nail utensils, she did not even cut my nails; she just filed them down. Also, the lady did not understand english, which seems really bizarre to me that she "has" a licensce to do nails if she does not even speak english. But, the second time that I went here, they again opened a new set of utensils to use for my nails, and the lady made conversation, and was different from the first lady that helped me. The one thing that I did not like was that the workers sopke in the native tongue, which makes me uncomfortable because you do not know what they are talking anout, and especially if they are talking about you. But, I personally would not go to Glow Hand and Foot Spa because I do not think it is worth it. There are many other places that you can go to instead that do a better job and with better customer service.

I always enjoy going to Nail Art to have a manicure and a pedicure because the artist knows how to create nice designs on your nails. The manicurist is very friendly and nice and they have a wide variety of colors to chose from. She can do whatever you want done to your nails and does suggest certain designs that she thinks you may like. The prices are pretty affordable and the quality of the nail polish is pretty good because it did not chip off too quickly. I would recommend going to Nail Art if you are looking for a place that makes yoiur nails look like a beautiful design.

I went into this nail salon once before and the experience was not too bad. When i first entered the salon, I was asked to pick out a color and when I did, I was asked to sit in a chair. The lady immediately took my hand and began to cut my nails, fix my cuticles, and proceeded with the manicure. The one thing that I noticed about this was that the tools she used did not seem to be sterilized at all because she took them from a drawer. But, the nail polish was pretty good and didn't chip for a long while. The prices are pretty reasonable. Overall, I had an alright experience, but, i must admit, I had better before.

I went to Silk Nail Salon with my friend one day and I had the worst experience. When I first entered the store, I was asked to pick out a color. The selection of colors is not very big and I was looking at the colors and was asked to hurry because they were busy. I quickly picked out a color that I barely wanted and sat down to get a manicure and a pedicure. The price was pretty reasonable, but, the customer service was awful. The manicurists were all speaking amongst themselves in their native tongue, which made me a little uncomfortable, because I had new idea what they were talking about or if they were talking about me. To make the long story short, I did not have a great experience here because the customer service was awful, and even though the prices are not bad at all, the service and sterility of the place is not worth the low cost you pay.

Home Video is located in the heart of West Portal. The employees are always very friendly and help you if you need it. This video store is an alright place to rent movies from, but, their selection of movies is not too great. They do have all the lastest movies that are out, however, they do not have everything that is out. With new movies, they also offer old movies and viedo games to rent, and that selction is not bad at all. The prices are faitly reasonable, however, it is a little difficult to find parking on West Portal. I would recommend this store to rent movies if you are the kind of person that likes to support small businesses.
