Their array of merchandise includes wood, pottery, furniture, jewelry and blown glass. It's a great store to pick up Christmas gifts; you will find a good selection at a broad price range. The shop will wrap the gift package for you in their distinctive brown paper box and bag.

Van Putte Gardens is located near my office on the west side of Rochester. While not my favorite garden shop, they do carry a good variety of annuals, perennials and small shrubs. Their prices are reasonable, and the staff if friendly and helpful. I run in there for plants when needed for the office, but it is not my first choice.

I used Dry Clean Express for dry cleaning and my husband's shirts for approximately two years. They are the lowest price in the area, plus they typically have coupons in Valupak. I thought the dry cleaning was okay, but my husband starting complaining about his shirts. They apparently had a change in the person who pressed the shirts. The tips of many of his shirts were burned. In fact, I had to throw away several shirts because the burn marks never came out. There are better choices of laundry and cleaners in the area, and they take the Dry Clean Express coupons.

This is a refreshing change from the franchise automotive supply stores. Even as an uninformed female, I can describe what I need, and they'll find it for me. It's rather convenient on Fairport road, so that when you're in the middle of a repair, you can make a couple of trips there without spending tons of time. They'll also come out of the shop to look at your car if there is a question as to what you need.

They are extremely helpful in picking out the style of monogram, the proper thread color and size of monogram. They also have a small selection of baby items I've purchased for baby showers or new borns.

This needleworks shop has all the yarn and supplies for the hand needlework. They have many kits to choose from, the needles, accessories and yarn. I've gone in there to pick up some special scissors that I couldn't find anywhere else. The staff is friendly and accomodating, and will let you know where you might find something if they don't carry it.

This is a unique high end kitchen aid store. They have a wide assortment of cooking and baking implements, small appliances, some food items. You can find those items you find in the exclusive decorator magazines, and if they don't have it, they are happy to order for you. The staff is helpful, competent and friendly.

Recovery Caboose has a wide variety of decorator and upholstery fabrics, as well as some new upholstered furniture and decorative accessories. The accessories are somewhat unique as I have not seen them in other shops. The fabric is discounted and runs the spectrum as far as pricing. You can also commission them to reupholster pieces of furniture. I used them many years ago and was pleased with the final product. They have sale priced and clearance fabrics in the back. You can pick up some real bargains if you find the right fabric.

Second Hand Rose is one of several high end clothing consignment shops on the east side of Rochester. I would put this shop at the bottom of the list. They do not have the variety of merchandise that some of the other shops have, and some of their clothing, even designer, is a bit tired. The latest owner of the shop is not very friendly, and the shop is organized the same as it was several years ago. It is not freshened up and things moved around for greater interest.
