This is such a fun place to shop in Old Sacramento. The staff is friendly and they not only allow you to, but they encourage you to sample the different taffy flavors as you browse the store. They have so many different flavors, and all we've tried are incredible. Their prices are reasonable too. Yum!

I think California Gifts is kind of overpriced and they don't really have anything unique, just the typical cheesy "California" or "Sacramento" souviners. They would be good for someone wanting to find a quick souviner, but if you had the time, more unique items could probably be found somewhere else. It's not very child friendly either

I love Candle Land in Old Sacramento. The staff is friendly but not overbearing. They have a lovely selection of decorative candles, and their prices are reasonable. It's a great shop for unique gifts, or something special for yourself. They have everything from hand poured/rolled taper candles to intricate, decorative pillars. Quite a find!

Prices are usually just the list price, though they do have sales and have a large selection of "bargain books." They have a decent children's section too.
Staff is friendly and helpful too.
Pros: Friendly staff, good selection, you can order things not in stock

I love used bookstores, especially ones that you can bring your old books in to exchange for "new" ones. The layout can be kind of hard to navigate if you're pressed on time, but part of the fun of a used bookstore is going through all the shelves!
Staff has always been friendly and helpful, and it's child friendly, if a bit crowded.

This is an amazing find. A couple of sewing buddies told me about it, so I had to check it out for myself and I could not believe it. The prices on fabric are just incredible! They might not have a huge selection but they more than make up for it in the price department. Stockton Blvd is never my favorite place to be, but this little find is well worth it.

We've taken our kids to a few shows here, Disney on Ice, that kind of thing. Those were fine, the sound wasn't much of an issue, and since they're moving everywhere you pretty much got to see everything that was going on.
Concerts however, are just okay. I love music and will gladly see a concert there if someone I like is playing. However, the sound quality isn't great, and depending on your seating, you can have a terrible view.
Parking is usually expensive, but that's to be expected. Staff is pretty good about keeping it cleaned up during events, especially considering 90% of the people there seem to be slobs who toss their garbage on the ground rather than walk a couple feet to a garbage can!

I am impressed with the selection of books they have, and their prices were decent. (They also have new books for those of you who are grossed out by anything used!) ; ) I was also able to replace my read so many times it's falling apart copy of Scruples for two bucks! ; )
It was clean, a bit crowded but in a book store that's a good thing! The employees are friendly and helpful. From what I understand they also have a trade in program where you can bring in books and get store credit for them. I'm not sure if it's just like Bookworm's-i.e. you can pay with 1/2 store credit only, or if you can use 100% credit if you have enough. I'll have to ask. ; )
They're also the only used bookstore that I know of in Elk Grove. I'll be hitting them before Borders or Barnes and Noble from now on.
