Hi Dora,
When I lived in SF, Tartine was my favorite bakery. They have a great selection of sweet and savory items and I was a regular there on weekend mornings.
Some of my favorite items were:
Morning Rolls: Orange cinammon, gooey heavenly delights. Only downside - they run out quickly. These are worth every penny and then some.
Savory Bread Pudding: A great bread pudding full of veggies, mushrooms, eggs, and sausage. Absolutely delicious.
You won't go wrong here.

So this place is seedy, the entry-way looks like you're going into an organized crime lair and the bar itself looks like an opium-den (not that I have first hand experience there) but it's surprisingly fun. The drinks were plenty strong for me and the people watching was hilarious. Definitely a hipster scene. Everyone has the same hipster-hair-across-the-forehead-brit-pop haircut which amused me to no end. The irony of trying to be different while looking identical to everyone around you was striking. Regardless, it was a relaxed, casual atmosphere and people were friendly and entertaining.

I went to see "Showgirls" with commentary by David Schmader. In case you haven't seen it, this may be the worst movie of all time. There are such gems in the dialogue as: "I've had dog food. Doggie Chow. I love Doggie Chow too!" When you combine this with sarcastic, hilarious commentary, a great venue and excellent food, what you have is the perfect evening out. A killer dirty martini doesn't hurt either. I was crying with laughter hours later...I can't wait to go to this event again.

Annie is a charming woman who is respectful, meticulous and easy to talk to. She also knows her stuff when it comes to hair. I got a haircut from her recently and I'm definitely going back. It's the happiest I've been with a haircut and she takes the time to let you know what works best with your face etc. (Those of you who know me will clearly have some smart-ass comment which you can insert here).
A great haircut at a great price. Enough said.

Cool crowd, lots of singles, decent pool table. Not much to dislike about the George & Dragon. Bartenders are cute and pour a stiff drink.

The crowd seems lively and the singles factor is high which is always a nice thing.

They are not the cheapest, but they are consistent.

I'm about as far from a genuine cowboy as you can get (indian with a british accent) so I was apprehensive about the Hen initially. My first visit there was on Jeff's birthday (I wasn't responsible for his inebriation, no matter what his review says) which was a complete blast. I learned all about buckle-bunnies (girls who chase cowboys) and posers (non-cowboys in the gear). I also learned that ordering a dirty martini in this environment will get you funny looks.
Suitably enlightened, I spent my second visit relaxing, ordering beers and attempting to order a bite to eat. While the food is tasty bar-fare (probably contains trans-fats) it takes forever to get served. I'm sure this is a consequence of Saturday night craziness, but still, rather annoying.
I also learned that most of the songs that the band was singing were covers of well-known music as opposed to songs they made up (known in other circles as original composition.) Shows how much I know about the genre...
All in all, it's a ton of fun, no matter what kind of music you like. People are genuine, friendly and the ratio of women to men on the dance floor is spectacular. If you're not afraid to shake your stuff, you could do a lot worse.

They also have great pizzas and great happy hour deals. Highly recommended.

I had yet another amazing dinner at Zoe last night. We had 8.45 reservations, the place was packed and buzzing with energy and we were seated right away. The highlights of the 25 for $25 menu were:
Ricotta Gnudi (pronounced nudie) which were fun to order and tasted exquisite. They are ricotta-filled dumplings drowned in two different butter sauces. So, skip them if you're dieting, but if not, they are ridiculously good. It's the sort of thing that makes you slow down, close your eyes and savor every bite. Seriously.
Roast pork tenderloin served on a barley curry. The pork was medium-rare and melted in your mouth. The Talapia was also terrific, but not quite as good as the pork.
Finally, for dessert, chocolate cake. Enough said.
Zoe continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle.
