come here early to get ahead of the super long line that'll definitely greet you if you show up around 9-10. the place packs customers in elbow to elbow, but it feels more like when the relatives come to town during the holidays than a bunch of strangers congregrating for some pancakes and omelets. service and staff is friendly and the food is hearty. the spinach omelet is lovely, as were the sausages.
if only they were open for dinner! french toast for dinner!

i agree with the above poster with regards to the lousy parking situation- you would think that this place had at least a small parking lot in the back. but the place itself is very cute, and the pretzels with the sweet and spicy mustard is a great alternative to the usual bread basket.
although the prices are a bit steep for lunch, the food is healthy and flavorful, and the portions are large enough to share.
also tried the tomato soup for takeout and it was great comfort food to have on a rainy monday.

never heard of bodega chocolates before, but since i was in a chocolate kind of mood, i bought a little truffle bar. and then i bought the rest of the flavors. those things are evil! they're rich, and the flavors are deep and intense. the dulce de leche truffle bar is so silky, and the small little portion is great quick chocolate fix.

the food itself is mediocre, and not very special. if i wanted half-hearted food, i'd just open up a frozen dinner.
still, for some inexplicable reason, a friend of mine loves this place to death. she swears by their fruit tea and can't get enough of their x.o. fried rice. then again, she lives a very sheltered life and doesn't get out too much...

i would hear the raves about this bakery and think, what's the big deal? and then i had the cream cheese pastry and was swayed. flaky and crispy with this lovely creamy filling swirling in my mouth. i had to restrain myself from being a hog and just stuffing these down my shirt so i wouldn't have to share with anyone else (i was at a party, and i didn't bring these little gems). i just wished i was closer to glendale so it wouldn't be so painful to get more of these.

or any other afternoon, for that matter. there's lots of reading material for your reading pleasure, and the coffee and treats are wonderful. its a great place to just hang out and soak up some atmosphere, or sit in a stuffed chair to savor the coffee and collect your thoughts. the live music sometimes gets a bit raucous, but it just adds to the variety.

from the moment we walked in, to the final presentation of our bill, the service was so good. granted, it was a weeknight, and the place didn't have too many diners there, but i was still pretty happy with our attentive waiter. the food was great. the complimentary bread was warm and special- a sign of a great restaurant when they care about the bread like that. the food was simple and flavorful and even the presentation was lovely. great for a quiet dinner.

i can see from a business point of view why you would charge each person not just a two drink minimum, but also a cover charge to make enough money on each table, but it does get pricey pretty fast. nevertheless, my friends and i had a really great time. the place is super crowded, but we were seated pretty fast and had great service the whole night. the music was great, the place really dim, and it feels like one big happy love in.
i'd definitely choose indoor seating (the vip room upstairs is ideal) over the outside space- too many passersby outside.

i visited this place one very late night after an evening of dancing expecting just a small paper cup of instant coffee, at best. what i found instead was a great place with tasty (and healthy!) food and a great cup of coffee.
the decor was psychedelic and off the wall, but the food was down home and lovely. the staff was also refreshingly attitude free and friendly (even at 1:30 in the morning!) i heard they also have live music here from time to time, so i'll need to check that out soon too.

i went a few times based on glowing reviews from other sites and was not disappointed. la dijonnaise is a great little bistro with a friendly staff and great food. i wasn't expecting too much, but the portions were large and the quality was first rate. the desserts behind the glass case were so tempting, that even though we were all full from our meals, we had to try a few. but while i like this place a lot, the seating is a bit cramped. you're going to be pretty much elbow to elbow with other patrons so a quiet romantic dinner isn't as feasible.
